Is the TRD air filter worth it (over the long run) over the factory paper filter? Cleaning one filter as opposed to buying several paper ones? Or is it just a nickel and dime thing from Toyota?

Is there a way to make the U-joints in the drive shaft on my 2WD '07 5.7l Tundra greaseable?
What is the best way to grease the propeller shaft, and U-joints on this truck?

    Thank you!

Just installed the TRD Pro Grille & Hood Bulge set up on my 2018 Double Cab Limited. Since the Toyota Safety System sensors were in the original chrome Grille, the dashboard warning light is on to let me know it's not working. I wasn't crazy about that feature and won't miss it but am wondering if there's a remedy to the dash warning other than hoping it burns out eventually? Thnx!

Probably replace the U-joint with a serviceable one, I'm not sure you could just tap a zerk fitting into it.
You could unsolder the LED in the gauge cluster, but that means disassembling that. Chances are that the LED won't burn out any time soon.

Is there a clean way of running a 2/0 cable from engine compartment to cabin along the drivers' side in a Gen 3 other than the one grommet that is on the firewall behind the e-brake pedal? I spent quite a bit of time pulling those little rubber plugs under the driver door/fender area trying to find an access. I saw on a Taco thread that they had something like what I'm looking for.

I'm looking at installing an alarm system in my 2017 Tundra and would rather not modify the factory wiring. My question is what brand type of factory connectors and terminals are used under the dash I would like to make custom pigtails if possible? That would interlock with the factory wires.

Is there a negative effect with removing the front sway bar? I took mine off at 40,000 miles I’m at 43,300 miles and no problems and I love the ride. I went high speed off-roading in the desert and got the wheels off the ground for a few secs and no problems still. Just curious because I was told it would be hard on cv’s......

    Hot restart starter run-on

My '07 5.7L presents an occasional issue when starting soon after I've turned it off to go into a store for less than 5 minutes. When I get back in the truck, I turn the key - it starts, feels like it loads up or starves, then dies. I turn the key off, then try to re-start and the starter just runs on until I remove the key... it runs in the off position. Stop, wait, and it starts right up - no smoke, no warning lights. no indication of a problem.

A freak accident with a chunk of gravel that lodged itself against the transmission selector rod forced me to drive from the car wash down the street to the Toyota dealer in reverse, they located the piece of Georgia granite - removed it and the transmission works as it should once again. I left the truck running when the dealership took possession, they turned it off and couldn't get it to re-start... they diagnosed the problem as a dead fuel pump. I trusted their diagnosis and authorized the work.

I picked it up the very next day, and less than two hours after leaving the dealership with a new fuel pump and an empty wallet, the identical sequence of start, die, multiple failures to start, then an eventual restart occurred when I got back in the truck after turning the truck off while I shopped a few minutes in a store. I am pretty sure my original fuel pump was fine...

    No

Replace with grease blessed u joint. Might be worth it to have a driveline shop do it. Aluminum shafts are very easy to break

That sucks.... that system is actually pretty cool tech speaking. But is there a way to make the pro grill work with that system? No way to turn that system off, it's a safety thing they are gonna warn the driver with lights.

    No clue, good luck.

I've never seen an alarm that ties into factory wires... have a reputable installer put one in. Too many hacks in the industry installing alarms

Absolutely not. Good for u for using the ifd front suspension for what's it's for. Are u lifted? If so, install a different drop the help the cv angle. Other than the haha if u are worried about it, lift the haha the truck but the Frame til the front tires are off the ground. Do the tires spin freely? If yes your good, if u feel binding, the lower the lift.

Seen this a few times, replace the starter

Wow, you are the first person to mention the starter.
I will inform the dealer, and have them check it out.

    Thanks.

My 03 Tundra (manual transmission) shudders sometimes when in cruise control and also between gear shift (1st to 2nd; 2nd to 3rd). Dealer said it's the clutch. Whats your opinion on that?

    Thanks,

cool, just wanted to know if you've seen any problems being a tech from removing the front sway bar, I love it and will not put it back on unless Im towing. Im leveled and will not plan on lifting it any higher, cv angles look good at current height, thanks for the reply!.

I need a little help with the 7 pin connector for the trailer. I have a car trailer with interior lights that don't work. They didn't work with my Tacoma either. BUT, I wanted to make dead sure the truck isn't the problem (trailer is offsite right now). Pin on the connector 4 appears to be hot when the engine is on. Pin 7 never appears to be hot.

I read on some horse trailer forum, they had a similar issue with their truck (not a Tundra) and a fuse needed to be installed to make the trailer interior lights work. I don't know which pin my lights work from (will investigate later) but how do I get a signal out of Pin 7?

    thanks!

    Hi,

Does anybody know where the 2018 tpms wire is located to tap in a remote start? It’s not the same as 2017 or older supposedly.

    Thanks!

That's really hard to say without driving it sorry

    Enjoy it.

I'd look into your owners manual... but I have never heard of needing to install a fuse for trailer interior lights

Thanks. Turned out it was the clutch. Got it replaced and it is running smoothly. However, dealer discovered that the bulb to my check engine was disconnected. :(

metallic creaking sound coming from bed when driving over speed bumps or backing up driveway etc..have you seen that before? pinpointed to this section of the bed rails/ frame (rear passenger side): could it be broken welds or those pressed bolts came loose ? It's moving there. thanks

    Hi,

The factory amp on my 2017 cw doesn’t have power. I check the red wire with multimeter. Where is the fuse for that before I go further?

    Thanks

I'd guess in the fuse block drivers footwell

Yeah, I figured it out. Power only works from the truck to the accessory plug when the truck is on. Trailer wiring was a mess, I cleaned it up and now I have lights.

Hey guys, I'm new here Sean pointed me to this thread, I've read and searched through it. I'm replacing my belt, tensioner and Idler pulley. My truck is a 2014 with 102k miles and I noticed while I was down there that the Power steering pump has a small amount of play. none up or down or left to right just a tad bit of in and out, you can hardly feel it. Can I replace just that pulley or does it have to be the entire unit? I'm about to put my belt back on and see if it's one of the two I replaced or the power steering.

I'm not sure that I see how replacing the pulley would cure what it sounds like you're describing which I might call shaft drift. I don't know if the drift is normal though.

Hi guys. Thanks in advance for any help. I went from a '13 Limited Crewmax with a JBL premium audio/nav system to an '18 Limited Crewmax with JBL premium /Entune...My old truck would literally shake the rearview with volume and bass. My new truck only reaches about 60% (if that) of the power compared to my '13.
Has Toyota "toned down" the power, or is there possibly something wrong with my new system? I posted another thread, and someone replied that they had a similar issue, and an internal fuse in an amp was blown from the factory. Should I go to my dealer and compare it with another Tundra with the same system? Thanks again for the help!

You could also flip up the rear seats and stick your head back there to feel if any sound is coming from the sub.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know what fuse is associated with the blind spot monitoring system on a 2014 Platinum model. My system went out and the light on the switch doesn't even turn on anymore. I was putting in some LED interior lights the other day, but they all work as does everything else in the truck and I'm not positive it failed at the same time. Anyone else have an issue with this? I'll take it to the dealer if it's not a fuse, but wanted to check it first. Thanks in advance!
