I don’t know about anyone else, but we’ve had a lot of break ins to our community mail box. It has happened all throughout my neighborhood and the people that have had the best luck are the people that have either replaced the outgoing mail door with a steel one or just riveted a steel one over the existing one. I don’t have the machinery to make one of these.

I’m not sure what this would cost but we can figure that out. Please pm me and let me know. I’ll provide some measurements.

    1) Cardboard for template.

    2) Buy scrap steel. Cheapest

    3) 4.5" angle grinder, metal cutting discs, flapper wheel to smooth out rough spots.

    4) Drill holes for rivets.

    5) Install.

    6) Have beer and knowing your mail is safer.

Well there is that great advice...lol. I haven't had beer since Sean came down and did some night off-roading. I have no room in my small ass fridge now. Lol.

May have to get a bottle of whiskey....

    I'm slacking Jay.

    Flux capacitor!
If you think this is something that others could use. You may want to reach out to motobilt or Rago fabrication. They both have a lot of heavy equipment to manufacturer this on a larger scale.

Mail theft seems to be an increasing problem. My neighborhood has been suffering frequently too. We got the post office to approve moving our CBU (cluster box unit which serves the 16 houses on our street) to a new location up our road where it can be seen by a neighbor and isn't on the main road down below. We also purchased a more secure CBU. There are locking mailboxes that may suit your needs: http://www.mailboxes.com/products/r...MI3aODiZO-1gIVkJx-Ch0tLgG1EAQYBCABEgJUpPD_BwE

    Get a post office box

I've received everything that I've ordered, and if people say they are mailing then I look out for it. It shows up.

I hate that Idea. No offense. But because some punk ass, piece of sh.., thief can't keep his grubby dick beaters off other peoples mail, I'm gonna be forced to spend $120 a year for the inconvenience of traveling to the post office several times a week? I'd rather set up a wild life camera and try to identify the POS. OK done with my rant.

Would you rather have peace of mind for $120 a year or always be concerned that the said "dick beater" hands have been fondling the mail you and your family might, or might not, get. Santa Cruz isn't known for quality upstanding citizens (certainly not referring to you. I like you a lot).

By the way....it's California. More and more nonsense happens there yearly because more and more dumbasses continue to make their vagrant pilgrimage....just like Colorado.

At one point I felt safe here...now theyve busted a ring of Californian panel van driving gang bangers that decided it was easier to steal shit in a safe mountain town than the southern Cali shit dump they already destroyed!!! Sorry for my rant

The saying here goes "if you have something nice and (sarcastically) want it to go away, leave it outside for the Californian that just moved in".......TRU STORY!!

There's crime everywhere, but the news in Colorado continually refer to most of the crime in our mountain towns as a California band of criminals. As little water as that holds....still.....Do the math!

Yo!! I should rewind and feel obligated to say that my rant was not directed at you, nor your dilimma. I went on my rant in as my relating to your predicament. After I read again I felt as you might take that as an attack towards you. Very not meant that way

Well at the local post office’s they’ve started breaking into the P.O. boxes as well. A few months ago they stole the whole goddamn outgoing mailbox (the big blue one out front).

Then a secure email address that you can send physical items must be the only option

FUCK THIEVES!!! I have nothing good to say about them. Thieves should all be positioned in a 5 mile x 5 mile enclosure in Mongolia and allow rednecks like me to carry every weapon I choose to do damage to the fuckers. @Law323 you with me?

If I did not have my secure locked mailbox bolted to my house, I would have a p.o. box.
Peace of mind is worth a lot to me.
Another thing to think about... Is modifying a mailbox ok with the post office? I would guess no.

Thanks, I know you're not attacking me personally. I do feel a little defensive about peoples negative feelings toward Ca. My great grandmother came here in a covered wagon and my grandfather was born in S.F. in 1910. But, Ca. is fraught with problems, no denying it. I just don't want to be associated with the negative image assigned to Californians. Cheers:cheers:
