just don't use other manufacturer's stickers. I saw a Tundra with Ford 4x4 stickers on it. Most people did not share my view that it was tacky. Most people would not even recognize the stickers as Ford stickers but I did. I guess he used what he could find. I was in too much traffic to verify whether or not it was a real 4x4.

Not a Pro. You can replicate a Pro, but when selling it, it doesn't matter if you "identify" as a Pro, your VIN reflects the legal model info of the vehicle.

What's wrong with putting trd pro grill on a SR5? All the grill says is "TOYOTA" don't we all drive Toyota's :notsure:
    image.jpg This isn't a pro!! It's a SR5 model

I have a 2014 Platinum. I have added the complete Pro suspension, Pro skid plate, Trd exhaust and a hand full of other TRD parts that are not associated with the Pro.. I acknowledge the Platinum and the Pro... PlatPro is my truck's name.

The VIN is it's birth certificate, and determines what it is. Slapping a bunch of Pro stuff on doesn't make it a Pro. If you want to pretend you have a Pro, just pony up and go buy one.

You see a lot of this BS in the Vette world. People buy a coupe, slap some OEM ZO6 fenders on it, then some ZO6 badging. Total BS to me, regardless of the vehicle.

I agree with you but, unfortunately, IMO Toyota decided to neuter the Pro in the amenities department for the price. I considered a Pro but decided on a Platinum for the same price and then added things like the Pro Grill, TRD Shifter, TRD Dual Exhaust, color matched mirror caps/door handles. It was a better fit for what I use my truck for. I was talking to a guy at my gym who just bought a 17 Tundra Pro and said he was disappointed when he found out it didn't have things like power folding mirrors, auto headlights, heated seats, etc. Guess he should have done better homework but I think some people buying these just assume a $48k vehicle should have these things. And at the end of the day I believe my Platinum's resale will be just as good as a Pro. I don't know how many people outside the Toyota community know what a Pro is, but most people do want the amenities. I am glad we have options to buy and build a truck they way each of wants to. Awesome vette by the way, and Tundra. Love the wheels. They are on my list when I upgrade mine.

I spend a lot of time on the bimmerpost forums and fake M badges is a hot topic over there. Some guys really hate it, some guys don't care, and others like me think it's just funny. You could do whatever you want to your car/truck but know that if you do decide to badge it, the only people that are gonna notice are the same people that know you're lying.

As for the OP's question, I would have to agree with others that say no it's not a TRD pro. Do what the dealerships do and call em Platinum Pro's, or Limited Pros etc.

    Pro suspension, sways
It is NEVER going to be a Pro.
But my Platinum has all the amenities a Pro can never have, and can easily upgraded with all the TRD Pro components that Toyota designed for the Tundra! This an win win. If I wanted a "PRO" I would have bought one, but I will never call my truck a platpro-proplat-propro-platplat blah blah blah... It will never be a PRO.... get over it.

    Too many to list
Won't be classified as a Pro for resale purposes but how about building it better than a Pro and calling it MyPro.

Life is VERY short. Do what makes you happy. I bought the Pro because I liked the styling of the front (not so "chromey") and that it had the ability to do things I'll likely never do...but know I could. ;)

Agree with some that many of the Pro things are cosmetic and can't be changed...stitching, stamped bed, and such.

My benchmark is this: Don't settle. Life is short. If a vehicle makes you smile when you walk into the parking lot after a long day, you enjoy a drive in an evening, or feels like it's an old friend. Then it's done 3/4 of the job. Who cares if it says Pro, or non-pro, or hell, Aztek on the side.

at the end of the day its your truck so build it however you want. with that being said its not a Pro. i come from a long line of modding cars and trucks and this is always brought up when it comes to special edition vehicles, mainly sports cars. going from a regular tundra to a pro isnt as much changeover as most so its easy, minus the seat stitching and stamped bed.
look at the question this way, is my truck no longer a pro if i swap the wheels and exhaust?

A caterpillar isn't born a butterfly. But it knows it's true potential.
A Jenner isn't born a woman. But with a few mods that exterior can look like a pro. But we all know that ain't no Pro.

I like the pro and would've considered one if it wasn't an SR5 for $5k more than my limited.

as far as 'special edition' vehicles go Toyota really did a lousy job. you look at that stupid raptor and it's like 'oh there really is something significantly different here'. pro it's like 'oh, SR5 with black wheels and bigger diameter shocks'.

Toy needs to drop the gay ass hood scoop and give us a Pro with factory supercharger and land cruiser comfort level seats and options. short of that I'll pass. that would be a truck I'd go further into debt for. 'but ooh it's got fox shocks'. maybe they'll offer optional monster energy logo stitching on the seats to match!

I've slowly pro'd my Limited. pretty much all done but the suspension and monochrome wheels. but I've got a sunroof, auto climate control, auto up/down windows and such.
