    Hi All,

I'm looking to get a Tundra 2007 tundra 4x4 to replace my old 1998 tacoma 4x4 which rusted itself to death with 120K. Any gotchas or things I should be looking for the 2007 Tundra or Tundras in general?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    I just purchased an '07 with 270K - it's a 5.7L RWD.
Check the service history, and bring every unknown service history up to date for mileage / months.

Rex thanks for the reply. Service records look really solid on one one I'm looking at. Got 129K on it. Your '07 still solid?

Thanks Leo. The one I'm looking at is the same color as yours, but with a double cab and cap on it. Sharp looking truck.

Looks like deal may not happen. Seller said AC started blowing warm. He charged it on Friday and blowing warm again by Monday.

The dealership should be able to fix that. My 07 is still running like charm. 81.4K miles. No issues.

True dat. Not sure if it's a line, compressor, or evaporator. Reading that evaporator replacement costs are $1200+.

Check for bed rust. Especially if it has a bedliner.
From what I have read, it starts under the bed where it sits on the frame.

Use that when negotiating a price, then find one from a salavge yard cheap.

Yeah seller didn't move on price much. Are evaporators a common issue on them?

Not sure about the evaporators but water pumps and radios seem to be a common problem for some reason.
I just bought an 08 last may and it came with some paperwork that showed both were recently replaced on my truck.
I did read about those problems before.

My 2WD '07 had 271,000 when I bought it... it's solid with a clean CarFax, but the only service on record was at 22,000 miles.
Since buying it, I have painstakingly completed every single maintenance item listed in the Scheduled Maintenance Guide for 120,000 miles / 144 months including those for Special Operating Conditions. The only thing on the list that has not been done is tightening the nuts and bolts on the chassis, nobody - not even the dealer has a clue about tightening these.

I have replaced both door checks, the tires & wheels, and the springs, shocks, door speakers and headlight housings & more will be replaced in a few weeks. It's coming along nicely, and after all that's been done - my total investment is still below fair market value.

    Good luck with your Tundra!

Thanks all for the replies. Ended up getting a 07 Limited 4x4. Haven't got it in hand yet, but should be here soon. Super pumped about it. It's got 150K. The carfax came clean as well.

Glad you found something! Like you, I just moved from Tacoma to Tundra. I had a 2000 Tacoma 4wd Xtra cab and bought a 2010 Tundra 5.7 4WD. The only thing I miss about the Tacoma was that it was paid for. :)
