New owner of a 2012 RW flex fuel, bought from private owner. Just got it on the road yesterday so it's sat for a couple weeks besides me driving it around not far on the property. Sunday started it and got the dreaded cel, off trac & 4 lo flashing. Did some research, got a scangauge and was fully expecting to see the AIP trouble codes but no I got the P144C code. Scanner clears code but keeps coming back on, pretty quickly too.

Been looking around a lot and don't see this code talked about on any Tundra forums. Checked the code listings/explanations I could find, don't see it there either. Closest is P0144 but that's not what I have. What I did find was Ford related and the possibility it may be a faulty purge valve.

My thoughts are problem has to be around the evap canister somewhere as that is where I believe the purge valve is also. No manual etc yet. Got a new gas cap but not OEM, will check tubes, conns whatever around the canister. If I am heading in wrong direction would appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

    Thanks all

    Thanks!!

P144C - Evaporative Emission System Purge Check Valve Performance

    Possible causes
      • Stuck open Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge check valve (part of EVAP canister purge valve)
      • Damaged EVAP canister purge check valve
    P144C Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) tests the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge check valve for a stuck open condition. The EVAP canister purge check valve test is performed during minimal boost conditions, once per drive cycle, when entry conditions are met. The DTC is set if the fuel tank pressure exceeds a calibrated amount within a specified amount of time during the test.
The canister is located between the fuel tank and rear axle

That was my ques months ago. I researched and researched it and looked around engine just from the top though. Guess what it was: MICE. Little bastids had chewed into 2 wiring harnesses and were in the fuse box. I never saw any sign of MICE and I was looking but didn't open box like I should have. I was pretty sure the prob was those stinken pumps or possibly the driver. Stealership wanted half my house of course to fix but a buddy fixed the wiring harnesses and runs great now.
