i have a '17 Limited and am interested in installing a LED strip light below the tailgate. Has anyone found one that doesn't block the hole that allows you to lower the spare tire?

Yes I have he line of fire and ice LED bar by recon under the tailgate. It stays on with running lights, brightens for brake light, splits in half for turn signals and changes white for reverse lights. It comes with a plug to go into your trailer harness. I cut that off mine and direct wired it into the trailer harness. IMG_6769.jpg

Mine does block the spare tire hole but it does come with metal clips so you can remove it if you need to get to the spare tire without any additional tools.

Just had the Putco Blade installed and has pics in the thread listed below. It is a rigid strip and can be mounted with the included 3m tape or brackets. Mine was installed with the brackets which allows the lite to be removed if necessary, however it was mounted low enough to still have access to the hole.

I bought one off Amazon. Wired it up to the tail lights the wiring diagram was easier to read. Haha

    Still rocking the stock height.
I'm looking at getting this for my truck. How did you wire into the trailer harness? Did you use posi taps? Sorry, I have never done wiring before and want to make sure that I do it right. I did not even think about the fact that it might block the hole for the spare. I guess I just have to watch how high I install it. Thanks for your help!

I had the Putco Blade installed which allowed room for the spare tire rod. It was also tapped into the trailer harness with an adapter. The adapter plugged between the harness and the trailer socket behind the bumper. Very clean install. Another thing I prefer the Blade over is the LEDs are smaller and close together creating a more solid light instead of larger separate LEDs.

I actually used the Opt7 60" LED. It's only $49 now! If you look at your rear harness it tells you on the cover which wires are left signal, right signal, running lights and brake lights. I did cut my wires under the truck solder the new wires into the stock wires. I then covered them with heat shrink tubing to make them sealed from the elements.

Where did you tap reverse light? Also does the colors match to the wiring with the led strip or not.
    On stock harness there are:
    Blue
    Green
    Black
    Brown
    White/black strip
    Yellow
    Green again

    Supplied plug:
    Green
    Yellow
    Brown
    White

Where each wire i should tap? 4 total plus reverse white wire? 9c45136508e2c6394a5e6ff3101288a9_3a93d9bf94b9263b554f45d4000efac6863e3158.jpga85fb98d0ba809a128821b4d6de4e090_9169b8c4d8407f0ce4061446070d1f791d974178.jpg

I am thinking of purchasing the Putco switchblade (92009-60) for my 2010 Tunbra Limited Crew Cab but am concerned about the spare tire release hole. Will this tail gate light bar block this hole.

Do you know which adapter was used? This would make for a much cleaner and durable install.

Since I had it installed by a local shop, I do not know. I assumed it was in the box but I'll crawl under this evening and see if I can snap some pics.

I've got a Putco on my truck as well and there is a decent amount of room for the spare tire release. In addition, the Putco mounts to the truck through the use of clip in type brackets. the brackets mount to the truck and the light bar clips into the brackets, which allows the light bar to be removed relatively easily to get to the spare tire release. My Putco came with a 4-pin wiring harness, which I cut off and wired it myself into the trailer hitch wiring. Below are photos of the spare tire release and the brackets.

    Thanks.
I looked around online and couldn’t find anything. I did figure out that I should possibly hook it to the 4 pin connector instead the 7 pin.
