my white truck is starting to look awful with the orange rail dust spots everywhere. I have the paint protection/polish package from the dealer (thrown into my deal by them) and the spots are still there after. I'm coming up on a service and curious if anyone has had luck with getting Toyota to correct this? I know it can be fixed fairly easily by a
competent detailer but considering making the dealer fix it as they do a half assed wax/polish every 6 months.

Virtually every vehicle has it, it just shows on white more. Basically it's exactly that- heat from brakes and leaves very small orange spots. Some call it rust, but its not. If so, about every vehicle you see would be rusty by now.

If you travel over railroad tracks often they will show up from that as well, especially in towns where the trains are normally using their brakes and moving slower. I had luck with doing a clay bar treatment, but you may need to do that every 4 to 6 months depending on how often your getting them.

I have this problem like crazy on my chrome rear bumper. I used a clay block and it did some serious justice. But If it's covered by the dealer, that'd save you some muscle.

My wife's 4R (white) got her liftgate repainted along with other panels. Covered by the dealer, taken to a detailer / auto-body guy.

Looks fantastic. I keep hearing /reading dealer horror stories. Mine couldn't be better people.

Head over to auto geek I know I’ve seen stuff for removing this. I believe it was called ironx. Melts it off from what I understand.

Thanks guys! Iron X was a solid recommendation. It's nasty stuff and smells terrible but with some elbow grease and a couple rounds I got 98% of the spots out today. I'm sure a clay bar would work better but this was a pretty good first step. Finished with a quick wax just in time for some snow tomorrow.

That's good to know. I think I have the cherry scent. It doesn't smell anything like cherries! I'm also glad I read a review saying it will stain concrete so be sure to rinse it away.

Looks awesome. I've always done rail dust removal with claybar and elbow grease but that iron-x looks like some fantastic stuff.

I sat outside during some nice weather during my last dealership visit.

I watched as the worlds most disinterested man rubbed down 15 brand new Toyota's with the same dirty rag and a pressure washer. At the end, he dropped the dirty rag on the asphalt and without pause picked it up and began dragging it back across a '17 Land Cruiser.

Please, if you're ordering...or buying a truck used...for the love of all...tell your sales person to put a do not touch tag on your vehicle.

IronX is good stuff. Follow it up with a clay bar for the areas the IronX didn’t get. Just remember, after you IronX and/or clay bar, you have zero protection left on your paint. You’ll need to put down a sealer or quality wax ASAP.

Fallout remover is a chemical that breaks down iron and various metal particulates that are adhered to your paint. You should wash the truck, then spray it on, it will dissolve iron, then you rinse and wash again. Then you can use a clay bar if you want to remove other embedded particles
