2016 steering wheel/alignment issues

Have been to multiple different alignment shops. 5 to be exact... Including the dealership. Every single one cannot figure out what the deal is. Rotated tires around, made sure nothing is loose, etc. The alignment is good but the steering wheel is off center. Not too bad, but I'm picky. I even drove a ways to have a buddy do it who I knew would do a proper alignment. The steering wheel was straight for about a day then went back to the left. Had one guy tell me it was the tires. Could that be the case? They are not the best so guess it's possible. Federal couragia m/t--33x12.5r20
5100s on truck, front on top setting. Before I pull the plug on new tires just want to make sure. Any help would be appreciated. It drives me crazy to drive it, even if it's just a little. Thanks guys.

 

what is the size of the wheels? specifically, what is the offset? also, did you get a printout of the alignment? what is (was) it set at? with the 5100's at the top setting (2.28"), you might need new upper control arms to get a proper alignment

 

Wheels are 20x9 +12 offset. Here's the latest printout.

 

Hmm... they only did a toe alignment. While caster and camber are in the green, those numbers could be better, but that does not explain why the steering wheel goes out of center. With that camber, you should watch for tire wear on the outside of the tire. Maybe someone else can chime in as to why the steering wheel goes out of center.

 

The only time I have ever seen an alignment go out of adjustment right after an alignment was a Dodge Dakota I had. Alignment specs showed everything fine, as soon as I drove away the steering wheel was off. Turned out to be some worn out steering components.

 

when you turn wheels from lock to lock make sure rack is not moving.make sure caster and camber bolts are tight

 

Thanks for responses. Just sucks I've had more than a few "reputable" shops in my area not be able to figure this out, including a dealership. Is there any chance it could be tire related though? Or just people doing in improper alignment still?

 

Same thing happened to my truck. Went off-roading yesterday and now the steering wheel is misaligned. Hopefully it's just an alignment issue.

Very possible that it's your tires. I see it all the time at my shop. Sometimes it comes and goes related to tire temperature might be good when tires are cool then off once they warm up or other way around

 

Ya...I'm starting to think it's the tires...had another buddy look at it and aligned it, but same outcome. I've been wanting to switch from 20s to 18s anyway so this'll give me an excuse to get rims and tires haha. Gonna switch em out soon and re-align. Will update with outcome.

 

Toe should always be even. 12/12 or 15/15. Etc. I had two alignments and wasn’t happy. Finally I told the tech what wanted. 0.1 L/R camber 2.8 caster L/R
Toe 12/12=24. He did it and my truck rides like brand new. I have 5100 3rd groove. With 275 65 20 . No off set.

 

when you lift a truck you naturally get more pos camber so you should be around 0.1 both sides camber 2.9 caster both sides ...But I've found that if alignment person dose not torque lower control arms to 125 lb then your going to have your alignment shift and steering wheel shifting to left is just that. I have 275 65 20 on 5100 at top setting and my alignment is 0.1 camber 2.8 caster 24 total toe 12.5 each side track like its on a rail
