I drove 5 miles a couple of mornings ago with brights on. Noone even flashed me. I was in Wal Mart parking lot when I saw blue light lit. In my Tacoma I would have been flashed many times. Right now lights are low but waiting for the 2" lift to go on. Is there a bulb upgrade available?

Yes the stock headlights are crap. Search this site for "retrofits" or "spyders". Many of us have gone one route or the other. The 2018 headlights look better, but there is some question of what the output will be, if it will work, and will harnesses fit. There's a recent thread about the 2018 headlights here that will explain.

Do you have your lights tilted all the way up? Could be they are tilted down so the beam is lower. I dont know, just a thought.

Stock High Beams do suck though, I had to switch to a retrofit.

I think the retrofit store offers HIDs that would fit our stock reflector housings but not sure if they'd suck for oncoming traffic or not... I'm about to follow some of the how to's on here for the retrofits - hopefully they'll let me see in the dark

My first thought as well. My dad mentioned that his seemed dim on his '15, so I had him check his leveler. It was on 4. Had him dial it back to zero and life is good again. He had no idea that he even had that option.

really? I have no problems with mine.

switched to Sylvania silver bright bulbs and keep my levels on mid level. I get flashed even when i'm not using my brights.

Welcome to the forum. Tundra lights have sucked forever. The other night my girlfriend was riding in my truck and it was getting pretty dark. She asked me to turn on my headlights. I let her know that they were on and that the brights were even on. She looked at me like I was crazy. She asked me to pull over, she jumped out and ran around the front of the truck to check them and got back in the cab and said "YOUR LIGHTS SUCK". I smiled and said "I Know".

Headlight Revolution seems to have some good options for bulb replacement with LEDs and HID... I don't have them but I have the replacement fog light LED bulbs and they are great. I plan on looking into LED replacement when the Sylvanias blow out..

DO not stick led or HID bulbs into your stock reflector housings.. Either retrofit, pay someone to retrofit, or just something like spyders.. I would recommend retrofitting.

+1 for these. I've had em for about a year with no issues. Better color and output. Not quite a stock beam pattern but not much wasted light either. As long as these are the higher wattage version which I think they are.

With the 2018 factory LED assemblies coming to market I'd just wait if I were you.

Retrofit is the way to go for improved lighting without blinding every one.

Because the stock reflector bowl is designed to reflect halogen bulbs properly, putting the light where it should be. Tossing HID or LED bulbs in that housing scatters light all over. Just save money and use your high beams, just as ignorant, but cheaper. :p

I did my retro myself, I love the look over stock as well as the performance. They light up the road nicely, then if I turn on the Squadron's I light up the town nicely. Haha.

Little white plastic looking bolt on the backside of the headlight housing.

Well first check the dial on the dash, left side of the searing wheel. I keep mine at 0, which is all the way up.

My 2nd gen Tundra had to have the light tilted down a bit or I got high beamed all the time. Must be a 3rd gen thing. Then again, I was used to Dodge headlights, and rolling down ones window and using a Surefire flashlight had better results.

I'm pretty sure the factory 2nd gen Tundra trucks didn't have LEDs or HIDs.

Ah I think we misunderstood each other.

I thought you said you did have them.. yea the second gens didn't use shitty h4 bulbs so their output is muh better than the third gens.

Yea I guess it's a third gen thing.
