Bullydog BDX install questions

Fellas, any insight on installing one of the Bullydog BDX tuners? It is the wifi capable unit, and by some metrics...looks pretty easy to install. But I do notice they want the vehicle hooked to a battery charger. Since I don't have one personally, and I am somewhat cheap, I was wondering if they are critical? If I do need one, what exactly am I looking for and what type of dollars am I looking at? I am like the least tech guy ever. Any words of wisdom on it?
