Just got my new 2017 Tundra. I tested the brake controller out. I get lockup using the manual control but without using the manual control I need to put the Gain up to 10 to feel the brakes kick in. On my old vehicle I could feel the trailer pulling on the tow vehicle when stopping. I don't get the same feeling with the built in control. Is this normal?

I've read there was a recent update to the controller. I'm in Canada...anyone know if the TSB applies here too?

Lastly if I decide to put in a new controller is there a separate port or do I have to disconnect the built in one?

Good questions, I have a 14' without the factory controller so I don't know the answers to your questions, but I'm sure someone will chime in with some knowledge!

So I was at the dealer today and apparently my controller already has all the updates. So I ordered a proportional controller on Amazon. Got the Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Electronic Brake Control. Hopefully it's easy enough to install. I'm assuming I just disconnect the factory one and use that cable?

Don't forget to keep us posted on your install of the brake controller.

When I installed my Prodigy 2 I needed an cable that plugs into the internal brake controller cable and adapts to the new controller.

Amazon has the cable you need but you gotta buy it separate. You really should go with Tekonsha p2 or p3 esp makes a mount so it looks clean af

I don't need anything fancy...just want something that works better than the factory controller. I ordered the cable too. Unfortunately Amazon in Canada doesn't carry it, but ordered it from a different site.

Installed it earlier this week and tested today. Works great. Much better than the factory controller. I can actually feel the trailer braking now.
