Be safe out there everyone in South Texas. Apparently San Antonio is expecting their own CAT 12 Hurricane to make landfall soon, so people are freaking the hell out. Ha..

    Keep them Tundras safe!!

YEP.. All the grocery stores are running out of stuff with bare shelves. Some places are running out of gas I hear. People are filling up bath tubs and coolers with water. It's getting a little out of hand.

Now there are some places around that are going to have crazy flooding and those people should know who they are and get out. But overall, this is getting crazy.

Hurricanes are categorized 1-5. Harvey's just a category 3.....probably downgrade back to a 2 when it makes landfall. Biggest concern is the forecast of it stalling above Texas, giving them one hell of a long rainstorm, major flooding and landslides in some areas.

oh man, I know allllllll about that! I'm from South Louisiana remember? LOL
Katrina was the worst waiting an hour for gas when you could find a pump that still had gas.
Grocery stores were stripped bare, Hardware stores had no lumber or screws as well as generators, gas canisters and extension cords.

definitely interesting when hurricanes come through.

Of course, there are going to be people too stubborn to GTFO of dodge before it's too late! Hell, in New Orleans, people were throwing hurricane parties getting drunk off their asses when katrina hit.....bad idea LOL

Yeah, I bet that was crazy, but that was also a Cat 5 and in a place below sea level.

oh it was a soup bowl! I lived an hour from New orleans at a much higher altitude, everything from N.O. to Lafayette was stripped bare!

don't blame Texans at all....better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

What they don't think about is putting all the first responders lives at risk to come save their dumb ass when they get in trouble.

Oh no doubt! They just think about their property and belongings.

It's amazing how fast that changes when you find yourself in deep shit. Most of the time that's when you need help getting out...like you said....putting other lives at risk for your dumbassery.

Both my brothers are first responders; luckily they are not on the coast. The level of stupidity among the general population is astonishing.

I'll start by saying I know that if I stay for a hurricane, no one is coming to help me. I'm fine with that. I'm a grown man responsible for myself. I did leave for Katrina for the first time in my life but I don't think I'll leave again. Most of my friends without kids are the same way. The reason is, once you leave you can't get back in after the storm until big brother says you can. On the "tiered" reentry system accountants, car salesman, etc. are "allowed" back into the city before I am. Quick action after a storm seriously minimizes damage. I am not a fan of the hurricane party. I want to be stone cold sober until things get back to normal after a storm, then I'll party. I live in the City of New Orleans and my house did not flood for Katrina.

Good luck to anyone in the storms path.

Preparedness is key if you're unwilling to leave. That being said, there ARE times when you just have to use common sense and get the hell out.

If you lived where a lot of those in New Orleans flooded up to the roofs, you'd probably be singing a different tune, and rightfully so. My dad lives in Harvey and he was perfectly fine staying there for the hurricane.

I was prepared for the flood of 16 and Katrina. Neither fazed me at the least, needless to say, I was sober the entire time LOL

But you're right, the tiered reentry is complete BS

Rainstorm yes, flooding yes........landslides..:D..naw, that whole area is flat as a board. Up here in the Hill Country, we don't expect more than a few inches.

Suppose it's still possible. It's a weird one, all right. Gonna be plenty of losses one way or another.

No doubt. Whenever a storm is slated to stall over an area, you know it's gonna be pretty bad. Just look at the Louisiana flood of 16. Friends of mine just 5 miles down the street from where I lived lost everything, houses were unsalvageable, cars were deemed total losses, etc. just from a rainstorm that got stuck between two fronts and stayed put for a few days

    Stay safe everyone!!

Thing is with storms...hell nature in general...shit can change in a heart beat. Hope it doesn't stay to long....it hasn't even hit land yet and the storm is screwing with crap up here in the northern area of Texas.

I hope it doesn't ruin next weekend for me....

I was gonna tow my boat down to my younger brother's house in Rockport next weekend and launch out of Port Aransas and he and I were going to troll around some oil rigs. Guess I'll still be going to Rockport but will be busy with other things now. So no boat this time. Chainsaw instead. Too old for this shit.
