Toyota brand oil is made by Mobile, but Dealerships are private entities so they technically can use what ever they want. I bought my truck in another city but brought it to a local dealership for the Toyota care tire rotation. They put a Valvoline sticker on my windshield so I guess that is what they use there and I don't know how I feel about it. I may go somewhere else for my 10,000k oil change.

Another perspective is time rather than mileage.
It's been decades since I put 5K miles on a truck (my own)in a single year. When I was using dinosaur oil I changed it every spring and fall regardless of mileage. Now that the Toyota care period has expired on the tundra, I will go to changing once a year with the synthetic.
I believe that the Dino oil is more prone to degradation from just setting, although condensation in the crankcase could be an issue. I do try to get the truck out for a minimum 1/2 hour run every month.
I've been fortunate to have a company truck most of the last 25 years.

They should be using the Toyota oil for the ToyotaCare services.

I go every 5k on the engine oil using Royal Purple 5w-30. Yea, it costs slightly more doing it that often (but really not significant at all) but I'd rather treat my engine well being that it's an expensive truck as it is -- plus, I'm supercharged.

Had the dealer change it at 5,100 miles. 8 quarts of 0w20 synthetic. They said their oil is packaged by mobil one. So, I'll change it every 5k from now on :)

I have always done about 8k miles on full synthetic 0W20. I now have a flex fuel but if ethanol was never run in it, then why would you guys recommend 5k? Just because you don’t know if the customer ran ethanol? Other than that the combustion ratio remains the same, correct?

For new rides, I change around 2000-2500 miles just to see how it looks. Then every 5k like clockwork.

The new 2020 had darker than I expected oil at 2400 miles, 7 months of ownership. I’ll post pics if anyone is interested

I have a FlexFuel 5.7 and wondered the same. I only use top tier unleaded, so 5k should be good, but I got an oil analysis kit from Blackstone and I’m gonna let them tell me when my next oil change should be. As long as you tell them what you put in (M1 full syn) and all the other details, they can tell you how both your engine and its oil are doing and whether you could wait a little longer. I like getting good data for things like this…

I have the FFV and never run anything more then E10. I talked to the service manager at the dealer and there is no difference in the lubricated parts of the FFV and non FFV. I change my oil every 10k with Castrol or Mobile 1 full syn. At 8k now and it looks fine on the dipstick. I may drop to 7500 since I have started driving less.
