I'm working a DUI check point. Bad decision or not, it's a stupid decision. How many fatalities from DUI's have you heard or seen? How about when they run through the check point and almost hit you?

Edit: I'm also a lonely volunteer. I don't see half of what they do.

Correct. I should have worded my response better. There are millions of great people! However drinking and driving when you can't see straight - straight impairment is a selfish and stupid decision.

Hey Sean, I apologize for that. I didn't mean to ruffle feathers. Even though your picture clearly spelled out what you were up to, I just didn't see it. I've never seen a dui check point. Stupid decision on my put. Thank you for your part in helping to clean up the streets. Footinmouthnow

Hey, no worries. I should have worded my response better to be specific. My apologies. :fistbump:

Edit: I should add- these checkpoints aren't always fun ..when people go off on you for "inconviencing them" for 5-10 mins.

Shit like that's annoying and people don't even realize what they're saying. Sure, stopping at a check point is annoying. You know what's more annoying? You or your family dying bc a drunk ran them over. Sit through the checkpoint and thank god someone is catching a drunk while driving, not after crashing.

Yep, that is always "fun" when people go off on you because you inconvenience them. I see it all the time.

    Driver: can I drive thru?
Me: no, sorry. Road is closed due to accident.
Driver: but this is how I get to my house. What do you want me to do?
Me: go around and find another way.
Driver: I don't know another way.
Me: sorry, but you can't come thru here.
Driver: but I can see my house from here, can't you make an exception? Why can't I go thru?
Me: no you can't, there is a body on the road.
    Driver: a-hole.
    Me: have a nice day.

Yessir. Once you're up to the checkpoint it's literally around 30-45 seconds tops (unless suspicion arises from the PD end or a Chatty Kathy wants to keep talking.)

We have a lot of great people who pass through thanking us, and then those random ones who

    A) decided to go through the line despite the road signage and turnouts mandated by law.
    B) Come though just to yell at you.
    C) Come through with the intent to argue
    D) And finally the ones that should not be driving. We had over 1200 vehicles pass through from 8p-130a. 3 exited for roadsides and only 1 was arrested for DUI, open continers, etc. She should have not been on the road.
