Lol yup. Personally I HATE the springs. Last time I was down there the amount of homeless people was appalling. I stoped in a McDonald's with a lady and her child in front of me and a homeless man behind me.
The lady was ordering for her family so it took her a few minutes to order. I was driving back to noco and wanted to get on the road, but no big deal I was in no hurry, the homeless man on the other hand, after she started ordering something else got vocally annoyed with the lady. It's like what did this homeless man really have to hurry for. I was gonna buy him food until that moment. He pissed me off so much.

I know that he isn't the entire population of the springs but that's why I avoid it there. And as coloradotj has pointed out to me, if your not ex military there it is very hard to get a job.

Pretty spot on with the homeless people. Probably why I'm moving to Monument.

The homeless thing pissed me off. I say this guy standing on the street begging when I pulled in. And then he acted like a long line (2 people in front of him) was the biggest inconvenience of his entire day.

Well hell yeah it was. He needs to get back out there to get free, non taxed money for whatever they do with it.

Some make a better living than you or I.

Yep, if they pull 450.00 a day, they do better than I do since no taxes are paid.

I think I was seeing stuff east of town if I remember right. I'm sure schools will matter by the time we move if we do. I didn't know homeless people were that big of an issue across the state there. I'd heard Denver was bad after the mj legalization, but wasn't aware it was statewide

I thought CO didn't pass the minimum wage increase?

Oh yeah I forgot to add if you are from California and you see someone with a Colorado native bumper sticker don't tell them you are from CA they are pretty biased against you. I have even heard people from the northwest that moved to Colorado complain that people from CA were ruining the state. pretty funny. I know San Antonio in texas has been taking in a lot of refugees from California I hear less grumbling about it when Im down there.

Colorado did pass the minimum wage increase. As far as the California migrations to Colorado, that has seemed to slow down drastically over the years. Anymore, I see more Texas plates in the state than all the other out of state plates combined.

    Ok, well this helps.

The homeless is area specific. You don't see this in Monument and other communities that have "money" but just don't give it away. Pretty much like having a raccoon problem with food. Take away the food, you won't see any raccoons. I have sat in areas and am dumbfounded at how much people give their hard earned money away. Don't get me wrong, I am charitable and give to causes that make me feel good about it. I used to take 8 or so rotisserie chickens and a few 24 packs of bud light down to some of the tent cities by fountain creek. It was interesting serving up plates of food to these people, and some of them it was some sad stories. In my experiences, most true homeless people choose to be that way due to mental, drugs, or alcohol problems. The ones that broke my heart was families living in these conditions. One in particular that I remember talking to was pretty sad. Medical bills for kid were overwhelming (child also passed away), both parents lost good paying jobs within the same year, and they lost the house and on the street within 7 months. It happened so quick. They did have a plan to start back up and they both were working odd jobs and were probably back in an apartment rather quickly.
My wife asked me not to do that anymore due to the danger level. I was always carrying, but in close quarters that doesn't fair well with chicken greasy hands and a 1911....well unless your John Wick.

On to the schools. This could be a lengthy part, but I will do my best.

The top school districts in Colorado Springs:

    1) Cheyenne Mountain School district 12. This is the Broadmoor Area.
    2) Academy School district 20. In some particular schools in this area are better than SD 12. This is up in North Springs, north of Woodman road and west of Powers. This is the Northgate, Gleneagle, some of the Black Forest.
    3) Manitou School district 14. This is in Manitou Springs, and covers Cascade, Green Mountain Falls areas. This is a different town, but it might as well be Colorado Springs.

Most of the other school districts are just shit. I won't send my kids to a rated school under 7 out of 10.

Now if you go up to Monument, that School district is 13th in the state out of 900+. Pretty good, and that is where I'm headed.

If your looking for acreage in that price range without a mobile home, look in Falcon, Hanover, Elbert areas. Your just going to have to go east. With all the migration to Colorado on the front range, people are buying up places and commuting over 70 miles one way to get into a job.

If it were me, and could move anywhere in CO, I would be looking in the western slope.
