Hi there. Have had my Tundra for 9 years but just now getting on this forum. I have a 2004 Tundra SR5 Double Cab 4WD with 267k miles. Love my truck! Currently have no mods on the truck besides a Softtopper and a brush guard.

My truck is my daily driver but also used for camping with some driving on dirt forest service roads. Not much off road with the wheel base on this thing. I have framed it though trying to go around a closed road in Cherokee national forest. Some nice people in a Jeep Cherokee helped pull me out though.

I have factory wheels and have generally been buying Nitto Terragrapler or something similar for tires. However, the last time I got tires the only “comparable” tire they had was General Grabbers. They look cool and are way more aggressive. But now when I sharply turn the wheel or go over a bump on the interstate, I can hear the tire rub against the wheel well.

I’ve wanted to get a slight lift on this for a while. But I also wonder if the shocks could be nearing the end of their life span. I know I need more support on the back end, because when I move a load of mulch or other heavy items the back looks crazy low.

Should I look into replacing the suspension or adding a lift kit or both? As a side note, while this is currently my daily driver, I am in the market for a minivan (boo! But it will be a Toyota) to accommodate the kids and dogs on trips. So the truck will be more used for camping, hunting and yard work and less so for long road trips and going back and forth to work. I fully intend to keep this truck until the wheels fall off.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! You might want to replace parts of the suspension if you've loaded it down that much, that often. Just adding a leaf spring may help if your shocks are still in good shape.
