Local dealer has 2008 CM grade. Only 73k miles and it was 1 owner.

    http://www.dorscheltoyota.com/used/Toyota/2008-Toyota-Tundra-9b9ef8bb0a0e0adf5dc31896f63fc86a.htm.

Looks mint some paint chips but nothing I'm worried about. My question is the fact that they want 22k for it. Blue book is around 18-19k I'm thinking I could get them down but should I be worried about buying a truck that is almost 10 years old. I plan on keeping it for a while so should I pull the trigger or look for something newer maybe 10-13 model year for 25-27k

Looking at the pictures she's still brand new!
Take her for a spin see how she drives. Wouldn't be to worry about the age as long as they took care of it, she should still run new.
    Ask for carfax report.

Welcome Matt. I would offer book and not a penny more.

I have purchased my last two vehicles below book and pretty much said "you have one shot, this is my offer (don't get stupid on a low ball), a yes or no."

My Lexus they wanted 18900.00, it booked for 16800.00, and I said exactly what I told you in the last paragraph, with a 16000.00 OTD. They took it. Wrote a check.

A couple months later, purchased my truck the same way (well, my second truck, but that is a long story).

I have a 2007 I bought 15 months ago. It has 146k on it now. I would not worry too much, just make sure fluid changes/basic maintenance were kept up with. Also, usually people opt to not change the transmission fluid because it is WS and some dealerships say it lasts the life of the truck... Don't fall for it, get them to change it, at least every, 90k miles.

I hate purchasing depreciating assets, that is why I never buy new vehicles... really surprised I bought my current Tundra, ehh not really, it was just too awesome to pass up!

I would talk them down to 18-19...if it were me. Otherwise, no deal!

Thanks for the replies... you think I can get 7-10 years out of it without much trouble? Any known problems with the 08's that were big?

    Seems like a clean truck.
However I wouldn't buy it. Carfax reported an accident.

I would research rear axle bearings, AIP system, and steering racks if you plan on leveling the truck.

Yeah I'm waiting for the dealer to let me know what it was... my wife's CRV was backed into and the lady reported it. My wife only had a broken tail light but it has an accident on her carfax

Oh, and front brake backing plate. Hopefully the prior owner complained about excessive brake wear and did the TSB to get the vented backing plates. They came standard in 12' Tundra trucks.

Doubtful if they know what it was unless they did the repairs on the vehicle.
In my old Altima, I was in an accident and hit a curb/broke my front axel and it showed up as just an accident.
I think it's a wide range of minor to major damage.

The primary issues I hear about are AIP failures.

With an accident reported on the Carfax, no way they will get anywhere close to asking price for it. That's leverage to low ball.

Also - go in with a check for at least half. Put it down get a receipt and walk away. They can't sell it if money is down on it and keep pushing them until you get the price you want. Go back every few days and ask if they met the number.

I got what I wanted and then some. Keep asking for more - maintenance, details, tires, light bulbs,

They have so many days to sell unit they have to pay taxes. When that time comes along they'll move.

My 07 will finally hit only 80K this weekend. Offer mid blue book. If they are willing to to high blue book at $19Kish.....buy it.......The grade allows you to make a lot of mods. Do it.

The low miles and condition is going to keep it from low blue book. We are talking about a Toyota Tundra after all. Still has 200K to go. At least.

Looks great! As far as car faxes go I wouldn't solely base my opinion on them. Like many have posted before me not all accidents are created equal. I had a lady back into my Chevy and dented the bed and I was an ass about it and insisted the bed get replaced by her insurance. Fast forward 4 years I went to sell and played hell because the car fax had a reported accident. Should have taken her 1500$ Personel check and moved on. My2cents. If I were in the market for a used Yoto i would take her for a test run-then to a trusted mechanic and make an OTD offer.

Good luck and Welcome to a great Forum

CarFrack only reports what was "reported". Not a bad "start" though.

heck yea dude, with those miles that thing is just getting broke in. Id Offer them 16 with a very serious look on my face and act like your going to walk out the door and look at some other ones. Actually do start acting like your not interested anymore and tell them that there is another couple that you want go go look at and that your in no hurry. Actually leave and drive away. Make sure that they have your phone number that you "accidentally" left with someone there. I bet they call you the next day. I have had them call me 30 mins later and dropped the price by a couple of grand!!

I actually did it to them twice!!!!LOL on the same truck!!!! LOL LOL Next day I paid then 500 over what my first offer was.

THEY CAN AND WILL ALWAYS COME DOWN. You can MAYBE go up a little. :) I bet they cave.

I love bending over used car salesmen

See what happened and go from there. I wouldn't go over book value though especially since there was an accident, however small.

Absolutely agree on the maint records. Toyota will have everything ever done on it if they had it done at a Toyota Dealer.

Hope for you that the damage history is minor, maint is good, and that you can sang a deal on that thing.

I know that they do not have anything more than 13 in it and will probably take 15

They are rolling the dice on a damage history truck already. They will not get anything more for it at auction. f they are smart they will take your 15 if the damage wasn't too bad.
