Well, if not, your reading is displaying your average mpg since the day you bought it.

When in mpg mode on your dash, press and hold the select button on the steering wheel. I do it after every fill up. I also use the Fuelly app on my phone as well. Great app.

After i fill up and reset, i usually get on the interstate right after. My mpg will read something like 20 mpg on the way home. It usually takes a day to settle down to a more accurate reading.

I fill up every stop and clear my trip and MPG, hand calculation has been about 2 mpg less than the display. The only time it was basically spot on was when I was below a quarter tank. I typically fill up around a half tank.

my display shows about 0.5 mpg more than I actually get. the display is just an estimation. I always calculate it by hand at each fill up so I know what I am really getting.

I have calculated mine by hand 3 times and it has always been pretty much what the computer says within .2 or .3 mpg. That's good enough for me.

Averaged 18.1 last tank and it was right on when I filled it up and did the math.

That little arrow by the pump is to indicate what side of the vehicle the fuel tank filler door is located. So in the Tundra it is on the left (driver side) of the vehicle. I think all vehicles have that symbol.

Computer has only been close to being correct twice. Other than that always at least 1-2 too high

Well I had one fill up where the computer was -.3 with manual calculations, and the next one was off +.7. The computer showed 18.4 and manual calc showed 17.7. I attribute this to two total different pumps and stations.

Personally, I found that the computer reading and 'hand-calculated' value to be very close to each other.

I think hand-calculated values are reliable only for a larger number of consecutive fillups. For the life of me, I cannot get the gas pump to shut off at the same level (I experimented with various gas cans). I also find that different gas pump seem to have somewhat different flow rate. Larger the flow rate, sooner the shut off occurs, I found.

do you guys with bigger tires understand not only your speedo but your odo and mileage on truck display are wrong unless you've done something to correct them?

not for me. the 295/55/20's made the speedometer and odometer readings spot on (verified by GPS). the 275/55/20's actually gave an incorrect reading. if I went any larger, then I would have to correct the speedometer.

I would be a little concerned as well.

    87 octane?
Air pressure in tires 38-42 psi?
None of that flex fuel right?

My 12' was pretty darn good overall.

    Mid grade fuel (88 octane)
    Tire psi good.
Tires were swapped out four some BFG AT ko. Stock size

Have heard that these tundras are not so fuel efficient...... I didn't purchase for economy. But did expect better, since ideally only drive on weekends, it will be awhile before we go through a fewtanks to see where she settles in at. Hoping for 14-15

I think that is a very realistic goal. I get 15-15.6 with 87 pretty much all the time no matter what kind of driving I'm doing. We will see if that improves in the fall when I don't have to run the A/C all the time.

I'm averaging long term on dash at 10.8. Pretty much accurate. Keep in mind...short term dash computer stats don't mean squat. Always hand calc to be real for trips.

Yes they are 15lbs more per tire.

In our experience on 6 different vehicles, the BFG ATs affect approximately 1 mpg

Mine is tracking MPG for someone elses car. And when I say car I mean some 4 cylinder that gets really good gas mileage. I calculate every tank by hand and I average around 12.7mpg. My computer tells me I am manufacturing fuel and that I am getting around 19.4mpg. Not even close.

1700 miles and I was excited to see mine finally creep up to 13.4 from 12.5. The mileage on Tundras suck LOL
