Hey everyone, looking for some input on what kind of modifications should be installed to preserve the longevity of our trucks. Thanks

Longevity and mods don't usually go hand in hand.... I'm pretty much stock 2nd gen at 275k. I'm sure there are other moded Tundras with similar miles with no issues.

I would have to agree but an example would be the transmission cooler for the 19-21 models which I have installed. Looking for more opinions, thanks for the reply

Get standard load range, low rolling resistance tires like the Michelin Defender and drive conservatively. That's about all you can do for longevity. Probably not worth much, it is just my opinion on this.

Transmission cooler, cat plates and potentially an ECGS bushing swap for the needle bearing if you have a 4x4. I wouldn't swap it unless you start getting a lot of play in the front drivers side CV axle and vibration.

I think the main thing for longevity is routine maintenance. These 2.5gen trucks are probably the most reliable generation of light duty trucks on the road today. Often mods accelerate wear.

I think the rear diff breather relocation mod falls into this category.

Nothing, just change the oil/ATF and do normal maintenance. I'm over 290k with a supercharged tundra and have done nothing out of the ordinary. If anything it's the least maintenance intensive vehicle I own, change the oil and filter and occasionally the transmission fluid and it's happy.

Normal and timely maintenance of all fluids. Conservative driving. I've put in a Bilstein lift (6112/5160) and run 285's. That's the only "mod" I've done, but I've been religious about my maintenance (oil, coolant, diffs, t-case, brakes and battery, etc.) Just don't abuse your truck and should be okay

    Ok, here ya go:

    - I'd argue a ceramic coat and some sort of regular wash routine to keep that coating and your paint healthy.
    - A cover if your parking outside.
    - A protective bed coating. Rhino or otherwise.
    - Scotch guard your seats
    - rubber laser fit floor mats
    - if your outside the mouse/squirl mod for your cabin air.
    - cam tower seal leak thing thats is about sticky'd top of the 2.5 Forum page.

    I'm sure I'm missing some.

Don’t do anything and just keep up on maintenance. I wound not even add the transmission cooler.

    I'm at 265k on my '08...
It's towed, it's travelled, it's camped, it's partied, it's been to Canada :canada:
it's transported dogs (a lot of them), and most importantly it's kept the family safe and never left us stranded

It's already been said a few times, but just keep on the maintenance. Also, I know some folks are into the gucci type of additives, synthetics, etc.. For me, I've stuck to the basics and used recommended fluids and such at reasonable intervals, and it's served the truck and I quite well.

Not sure about that one, covers can be more of a curse than a blessing. The three obvious drawbacks are scratching from dirt, condensation issues and small animals that fancy camping out.

Seat and floor covers are the biggie for me and a must for those who use their beasts for work, have pets or the ultimate in interior destruction, kids. Dirty little beggars can trash an interior in 20 seconds flat.

I think most of it has been said but what I did: Trans cooler, seat covers, rear diff breather mod, cat covers, front skid, bed liner, tailgate snail armor plate, all season mats, occasional bottle of fuel treatment, on time/early maintenance & driver side grab handle so I don't slide out. Oh and when I park away from my carport I toss a sun shade on the dash. Nope I don't bother with trying to get it setup in the windshield. I just toss it on the dash to keep everything from cracking/fading which has worked fine for my 2011 Accord that's lived outside it's whole life without tint.

Orrrrr just change the oil because.... 2.5 Tundra lol.

Yep, there's nothing inherently wrong with the design of the 2007-2021 tundra. Nothing that needs to be "modified" in order to extend the life of the vehicle.
Basic maintenance and don't smash it into anything and it'll last a million miles.

    - After a certain mileage (100k?) you could get the engine bay and underside cleaned with dry ice.

    - There is that little area in the fender area that collects leaves and crap. Something to keep that clean and free from wet materials to minimize rust over time.

    - 3M protection film on headlights.

For me and where I live in the north east I keep the underside fully fluid filmed and also in the frame rails I use a cavity wax and a 36 inch wand and I spray away, it really gets into the tight areas and def helps with corrosion

If it's a Ford, GM, or Ram, most important mod for longevity would be to trade it in for a Toyota.

If it's already a Toyota, yer' good! :bananadance::dancingbacon::broccoli:

303 UV protectant on all rubber and plastics, fluid film undercarriage, diff breathers if you off-road, trans cooler, Husky/Weathertech mats. Avoid lifts, big tires etc. All increase wear.

Whatever this forum told me to do
move that $200 pile of sh1t out of your garage & park your $60k truck in it.

I got neighbors with 3 car garages with piles of crap in them...and $100k worth of cars parked on the driveway.

Amen. Paid for apoxy floors, installed some cabinets along the garage wall, bought a 10x10 shed and shelving for it.

Shed and garage are fully organized and Jeep is parked inside. Expensive but definitely my best "mod" ever.
