    Hello all!

My son just bought a very nice '07 SR5 2WD 4.7 with 144k miles. Previous owner had a fat file of maintenance and repair receipts, including replacing the timing belt 6,000 miles ago. However, I did not see any mention of the transmission being given any love. The truck does have the towing package (w/factory cooler,) but the receiver hitch shows little wear indicating that the last owner's claim that the truck was mainly used to go to the golf course was probably true. (He was the 2nd owner.)

The truck runs and shifts just fine. The maintenance freak in me wants to do a drain and fill on that trans fluid, but I hear all sorts of opinions on transmissions at this age that have never had a fluid change.

What would you do if this was your truck?

    Thanks for you opinions.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! A drain and fill would not hurt and might help with longevity.

Drain and fill or swap all the fluid. Just don't do a power flush at a dealer.

Drain and fill, each of the first 2-3 oil changes. This is all I ever did to my 09 Crewmax and it shifted same as brand new when I traded at 13 years and 113k.

    Pretty things
Got mine at a similar mileage and couldn't find documentation of the service.

I've done drain and fills at 8-10k miles and the fluid is now pretty and red. I use only Toyota WS ATF and use the leveling procedure "hack" in the following video. He does a different fluid exchange process, but the leveling starts just after 8mins

Maintenance manager from dealership thats had 2 tundras (both 07s I think) go well past 1 million miles talking about changing fluid every 100k-ish.

There are a number of threads on how to safely change transmission fluid, regardless of age.

A "power" flush is the dangerous type you want to avoid.
