Random question...These dash plates are stout, no doubt about it. That being said, between the plate and the ICS backing plate has anyone notices any sag or warping in the dash after having it installed for awhile? Just wondering if this is or possibly will be an effect after long term use. I just acquired one myself, and cannot wait to install it.

I haven't. I think I installed mine last January. I added another RAM mount for another phone. I also added a GMRS radio to the rear of the plate. I was going to install the GMRS radio to the side of the middle console near the seat, but saw there was room on the dash plate. I ran electrical wires to power the GMRS radio to my Trigger Six Shooter. Ended up working out really well. it's still sturdy. I'm still glad I installed the dash plate.

So I see everyone building a base plate that goes under the dash for added strength, Has anyone actually really needed this or something happened for everyone to add it? Asking because I just mounted mine and it doesnt come with it so I want to know if I need to add it

I have the plate underneath mine and no vibration at all. I helped my father in law install his Rago plate a few weeks ago without the bottom support. His seems stable without it, but he's just using it to hold two phones. Based on what I've seen I think you're fine w/o the bottom support plate, but if you plan to mount heavier devices it would probably be a good idea to have the additional support.

Just picked up the Rago dash plate from a local guy on Craigslist with a bad ass trd pro……he upgraded to the one with the power port. I am going to replace the ics plate that I currently have and offer that up for sale as soon as I make the switch. Didn’t realize how big the Rago one was - looks great

    Quick question for you...

I finally got all my parts in to do my Rago dash mount (doing a FRAC and front camera install at the same time), and I ended up grabbing an ICS plate based on the recommendations from this thread. Anyhow, I noticed that for your install, you went with Rago's original 4 anchor points to connect the base mount to the ICS plate in lieu of what the others guys did which was to add 2 additional anchor points at the bottom of the plate for a total of 6 anchor points.

I'd prefer to go the route you went so I only have to drill through the ICS plate instead of doubling my work and drilling through the ICS plate and the Rago base mount (plus having to grab the additional hardware, etc.)

So, my question is... now that you've had that setup for about a year, have you found it be stable enough and w/minimal vibration w/just the 4 anchor points, or do you think it would have been worth the extra time and work to add the 2 additional anchor points??

What setup is that for your radar detector? Any vibration at all?

I started out with huge fender washers, then took the plunge and bought the ICS back plate. Realistically, no substantial change in vibration. The dash material itself is flexible and will contribute to vibration. Also, physics are involved; the longer your mount arm, the more likely you’ll have vibrations, similar to how a majority of tow mirror users (like myself) see more glass vibration than shorter OEM mirrors. For those that claim no vibration, those are likely the same ilk of folks that, when reading a thread where someone is addressing an issue with their truck, those folks respond “I don’t have that issue with my truck”!

Did you ever find out? I was reading through this thread for a solution to mine. Nothing like having a $700 detector falling off of the windshield.

Gotcha. So after digging into it, it is the RAM mount power plate. You can get the plate, the arm, and the 1 inch ball mount for $40.00. I have the Escort Max 360C MKII with the magnetic mount and the suction cup fell off of the windshield the other day due to the heat....not cool for a $700 detector. Currently I have it sitting on a Scoche magnetic mount, but it is jumpy (not as noticeable in the dark). I am going to try a different route. I have some ICS aluminum arms, so I am going to go with the plate, a 20mm Tachform ball mount for the plate (I may have to make slight hole adjustments), and my arms. That should have it a few inches above the dash, I won't have to remove it to put my sun shield in, and it won't fall off the windshield.
