    Consider using a bungee cord or something like that to hold your propane cover down so it doesn't fly off on the highway.

    Nice setup. We do a lot of traveling up into mountains, so our wish was to have something a little lighter than 6K lbs to go where we wish, but that is a nice setup.

    As for the truck size, my motive on getting what I have was to just get the biggest I could. I started with a 3.4 L DC 1st Gen, but one pull season and I realized that I was way under powered for what I wanted. Plus I needed larger cab size.

    So going from the 3.4L I saw the 4.6L and for the price I got my truck for, I just went with the 5.7.

    Have had the truck now for three years or so, and it is a 2010. I paid $18K for it.

    Good idea. I appreciate the suggestion and will do that before our next trip.

    I plan to follow this, although I will use S5 and stay at most 65MPH, and no, I don't use cruise control. But if I find that things are not going the way I like, I will drop speeds down and go to S4 to see how that works.

    I appreciate the input. I am interested in seeing how the truck runs and will post the results when I get them.

    Here is my rig and new camper.

    We did a short trip and here is the numbers for both the to out and return trip.

    S5, tow haul mode, no cruise, 65 MPH down and back with small excursions into 70+ either going up hills, or passing.

    At 65 MPH my RPM was hovering right around 2100ish, or a little less. Going up hills I would be sitting around 2500, unless it is a higher hill then I hit 3000 RPM's a few times. Consistently it was 2500 or less.

    My MPG was anywhere between 9-10 MPG. I was hoping for a little more but I have to remember I am a little in the mountains.

    The tires are Black Rhino Alloy's.

    How are the numbers looking for you all? Am I in target? It doesn't sound as though I am stretching my engine at all. Although I do have a dual exhaust Flow Master (I think). Has a nice rumble but I can still talk.

    BRAVO! Congratulations......These are my settings for my trailer which is sitting at 5,640 lbs (90% loaded, 1/4 fresh water). The Tundy will pull it all day long. Hopefully, you got used to the new baby. We are getting ready to take ours out in the next week or two before it has to be taken in for the 90 day warranty appointment. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

    @KNABORES,

    Thank you for the input. As my camper is lighter, it looks, based on your numbers, and mine being in S5, I should be in the green zone.

    @Cpl_Punishment,

    Thank you for your insight as well. Your help with this was greatly appreciated.

    Excellent! I pull with little to no water in my tank, and a few things in my truck bed.

    I did modify what I carried and where. My black tank hose is in a locked tote that is low profile and fits under my tool box. I ditched the camper grill and shelf that slides on the rail on the side of the camper (I am thinking of selling it, but waiting to see), and I bought a Lodge Cast Iron Grill. So that is under another tote that is low profile as well.

    I still carry the five concrete blocks, a tote for shoes, my family and I. Everything else is in the camper.

    Thanks again for your help with this discussion and I am better equipped now going forward. It was a lot of figuring, but worth it to be safe.

    Ditch the concrete and get the lightweight plastic ones. I ditched all the wood and blocks and crap I used to carry. Probably 200# of it

    @KNABORES,

    I have tried the plastic ones. I have 8 of them. Some of the sites I go to have some very large gaps that the stabalizers are almost fully stretched out when I put them down. There was one campground we went to, the braces were fully extended (not because I wasn't using the plastic blocks but I needed more than I had). The camper swayed bad enough that my wife got sick from it for two days.

    When we did use the blocks, we found they did not give us a firm grounding and still had sway. It was on campout number 14, I believe, I needed something a little higher and there was a cement block right off our site. I grabbed it, and used it to lower the stabalizer on. It was night and day. So I am good with dropping the blocks, but I am needing something to make the camper for secure and firm.

    I was looking at the TJ cross mounts that go from the camper to the jacks, but not sure how well they work, and I wanted to see if there were any other options available. But I am having no success in finding it. Any suggestions would be appreciated because I would love to drop those things from my bed.

    Trd ..I upgraded my stabilizer jacks to 7000lb,they are better made than the ones that come on most campers helped with the wiggle as I can put more pressure on them.

    Also forgot to mention that Snap pads has a larger pad for travel trailers now.

    Do you have a link to the ones you bought? I found several, but I am always questioning the quality :). Thanks.

    I got some big rubber mats for my stabilizers. I think mine came from Lowe's but I bet you could buy them at any hardware store.

    Are they the block mats? I will have to look at Lowe's again to see what they have.

    Do they provide a good base? With the blocks, we have virtually no shake at all. That is what was liked about it.

    I looked back through the thread and the ones I have are very thin and just provide a good base for the jacks on a fairly level campsite so may not be what you're looking for.

    Again I upgraded my stabilizer jacks to 7000lb and I have the Anderson red plastic round supports.I do set them tighter then the factory ones as they are a heavier duty scissors jack and are able to support the trailer better with very slight movement

    I did remember you saying that. I will look at upgrading those when I can. Got to take care of other upcoming expenses first. Thanks for the help.
