Let's Talk Knives

Just about finished this one. Forged the mosaic Damascus out to the blade contour and the scales are stabilized spalted beech.

 

So after discovering this thread and browsing through most of it I decided on picking up a benchmade claymore



and then decided to order the cold steel push dagger I posted about. pretty much a novelty item for me, but said why the hell not

 

Love my Claymore, I had issues with screws backing out so just keep an eye on them. I lost one screw before I caught on.

 

Awesome pattern on that blade

 

Can you tell I’m having some fun?

 

The contrast between the blade and handle on that one is perfect....

Anyone have any experience with the Boker strike auto knives?

I don't have one but was trying to buy a Strike mini or Stubby locally, but no one carried them. Picked up a different knife and then found a coworker with the Stubby
From what I've been told and read in reviews. They are a decent knife for the price. The Stike Stubby was a good size (fits in the pocket well but has enough handle to feel good in use) and their edges tend to hold up well. Its unlikely to blow your mind, but if you are needing an edc for normal use, the Boker Strike mini/stubby should fit your needs.

 

So the cold steel push knife came in. It definitely has a good heft to it. It’s also nice and sharp, cut through a cardboard box like butter



Also was going through some old stuff and found the Al Mar pocket knife my uncle gave me when I was a kid

 

Christmas in June!

 

Finished this Sontoku today. It used up 6 lbs of carbon steel in the process of forging and shaping. I had fun with the handle too. After stabilizing with some blue dye, it was cast in some blue epoxy to fill the voids. Bolted on with some blue G-10 liners

Very interesting, but for the price I can buy a lot of DMT diamond stones. Add $50 or so and you could get a Tormek.

That's absolutely gorgeous.

 

I think rotating the stone against the knife instead of a straight back and forth pattern is interesting. Does it really build a random pattern like the little insert shows, or does it just wind up being an upstroke followed by a downstroke as the stone rotates?


I'm leaning toward this being a solution looking for a problem, but I'm glad to be proven wrong.

@Musicmasterd12 they even have a Damascus version of the Boker Strike. I wish the pattern was a bit more visible but that could just be from their photo.

that’s nice! I’m gonna try to find one of the cheaper versions and see how the are and if they hold up well enough maybe I’ll pickup one of those!

 

So decided to mount the cold steel push knife in my commuter car! Anyone else have their knives mounted in their cars?

This was as inconspicuous as I could get it, with still being able to access it easily

 

I like it. I keep a Spiderco in my center console but have been pondering something easily to grab.
