I recently got a 2020 tundra 5.7 v8. After I bought it I took a closer look at the carfax and found that although the old owner kept up to date on his oil changes(every 10000 miles) it looks like he went almost 14000 at one point. Do you guys think this will affect the reliability long term?

Should be fine. I’d shorten the interval to 5-7K miles or yearly - whichever is first.

If the previous owner was an average driver and used good quality synthetic oil, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. But I, personally, would not make a habit of that.

Yea, I don’t know much about how he used the truck or what brand of oil he used, this is strictly judging off what I found on carfax.
I know allot of people claim 7500, some even say as much as 20000. I personally agree though, I think 7500 is a better way to go

5k/6mo whatever comes first…engine oil is cheaper than any oil related failures…

the issue is that it was a lease, the guy went almost 14000 miles, assuming that the carfax is accurate, I’d be under the assumption he probably reved the sack off of it the whole time since it’s a lease

Carfax doesn't cover everything. I bet mine will only show the 2 dealer oil changes at 10K miles, I have always changed at 5K.

Agree on 10,000 , just change filter every 5000, stays real clean.

That 14k interval could have been a little bit hard on it, but I doubt it caused any significant wear. It really depends on use and the oil used. Long idle times, frequent short trips, weather, etc. all of it affects your oil and there is no way to be sure what happened to a lease return. As said above, minimum every 6 months is a good idea for the low mileage crowd. Also watch the oil level and keep it full between the changes.

OP how many miles on your truck?

I do 3k/6mo. Most on here will say 5k/6mo which is universally recommended. 10k/1yr is just bonkers but y’all do your thing.
