Hello everyone! New user here, finally come to asking for some opinions on what this is!

So around a month ago my truck started severely misfiring in all cylinders. I just put brand new spark plugs in about 20K miles ago and all my plug wires and fuel injectors look fine. But the truck is only running about 500 rpm and very rough. 4LO is flashing along with the VSC light on, check engine (solid, not flashing surprisingly), and my battery voltage is jumping between 8-12 V (brand new battery).

My OBD II reader only reads the 8 misfire codes and nothing else. I pulled out all the plugs and there are no access oil on them and seem to be working fine.

I’m kinda stumped on this, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    _____

    From code reader:

    P0351 - Ignition Coil "A"
    P0354 - Ignition Coil "D"
    P0356 - Ignition Coil "F"
    P0357 - Ignition Coil "G"

    P0300 - Random/Multiple Misfire Detected

    P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
    P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected
    P0351 Ignition Coil "A" Primary Control Circuit/Open

    _____

    SOLUTION!!!
    at least for me

So it turns out that I had put one of the ignition coil connectors on backwards, causing my plug wires to short out and actually kept the other 3 cylinders on that side from running. This on top of having a bad ignition coil is why I had a total of 4 cylinders misfiring.

To fix, make sure your plug wires look like the image below.
If looking at it from the side, the color code on the wiring should be red/black, green/black, black/yellow, and yellow/black.

If you continue to have issues, I'd highly recommend just replacing all of your ignition coils. Mine still has 7 of the OEM factory ignition coils at 275,000 miles, but likewise could have one go bad, especially if you forget to put the rubber seal back on (like me).

    Hope this helps!

Forgot to mention, I did a compression check on all cylinders about 2 months ago before the issue started. No leaks were found and everything seems normal. Truck ran for about a month after this and then all hell broke loose.

I'm no expert but I'd troubleshoot the voltage first. There must be a problem with the battery and/or alternator if the voltage is dropping to 8V, right? And low voltage could cause other problems.

    I dunno I know nothing.

Could it be the ignition coils? I know they are involved in voltage and will cause a misfire when going bad. I've never heard of all of them going at once though, usually its just one or two at a time.

1st guess would be to check the battery ground cable.... 2nd would be check for damaged wires by rodents. May need to chase down wiring

Had a Honda Accord throw similar codes ended up being a bad/clogged fuel injector. Try unplugging 1 injector at a time confirm engine stumbles ea time.

No unfortunately, still trying to diagnose but no luck. Only thing I can think of is to start pulling wiring and checking grounds. Maybe some rats or something got into mine. I’ll keep this updated if I find a fix!

Found a solution!! Check the original post! Turns out my plug wire connector was turned backwards, causing my plug wires to short out on 3 cylinders. Give yours a look!
