The standard coil they come with is a 3" x 16" x 650lb rate coil. Technically you could go a little less lift by removing preload, since these are preloaded from above, the lower strut clearance won't be an issue, but the intention was to have 2" of lift at a minimum. Usually lower strut/coilover clearance to sway bars and other parts is the issue.

Tow more dumb questions for you, @crikeymike ..

    - Product literature says "Direct Bolt-On Design, does require lower mount clearancing". Could you elaborate on the lower mount clearancing?

    - I love those deliciously tantalizing teal coils, but boring black coils are more my speed. Rowdy red or simply silver would work as well. Any chance we can get these pre-assembled in colors other than titillating teal? I suppose I could just order them sans coil and assemble at home.

Hey bud. I've updated the wording on it. I was only told about it last week.

The lower leg of the Dobinsons coilover is too thick (too much beef) for the lower mount to have the right amount of clearance at full droop, so that mount on the LCA just needs to be trimmed back a little. Photo attached.

I'd love silver too!! The Dobinsons coilover coils these use will only be made in teal though. You can use another brand of coil if you want that's a different coil and just buy the MRA59-A710 by itself (without coils). https://exitoffroad.com/product/dobinsons-3-way-adjustable-mra-front-struts-toyota-tundra-2007-2021/

It uses 16″ coils with a 3″ inner diameter and 650LB Spring Rate as standard, but there will be stronger options coming too for heavier loaded trucks.

What brand exactly? The universal coils (like Eibach) are all constant diameter and ground flat on the ends. The Dobinson coils are tapered and not flat on the ends. You'd need new perches (at least) to fit an Eibach coil.

I was referring to the 2022+ Tundra coilovers from Dobinsons that use flat ground coils top and bottom. The 2021 and earlier use the OE style pigtail bottom and flat top.

The 2021 and earlier front coils from Dobinsons are offered in teal, black and red for twin tube and IMS struts.

Wait... you wanted MRAs, right? I was looking at IMS, and that is the photo I posted! The MRAs for 2nd gen do appear to have constant diameter and flat ends. It also looks like there is plenty of room for a longer coil too, if you want. Shouldn't be any clearance issues at the top.

Funny, I was staring at them scratching my head, wondering if the stock photo was for a different setup. Those sure look like flat top coils to me...

@crikeymike - can you confirm this?

And as a side note, I see that Dobinson also offers IMS kits and parts for my sequoia, too. Crap. I had a bear of time trying to find rear shocks for that rig and ended up with another set of stock black shocks. When is this all going on sale?? My wallet might just be getting a bit lighter..

You guys keep jumping all around. The 07-21 Tundra MRA's come with coilover coils and only in teal. You can use other brands of coilover coils if you don't like the color. Each product page has the specs of what the options are.

The photo of the Tundra MRA'S is of the actual product.

Darn. Waited too long to get MRA's up front. Any idea when more stock might arrive? May just have to start with the adjustable rears and roll with my existing 6112's up front...

Stickers add horsepowers... didn't you know? So really, we are just talking about horspers. That makes this a performance thread - more horspers to go with out our go fast suspensions... :D

Just installed the leafs, which shocks is everyone running with them? Will use them for mainly DD, but I also need to tow and travel a lot of dirt/washboard roads. The stock shocks seem to not be long enough, as the leafs are compressed a bit. My stock shackle is moved back with no load.

The shock has nothing to do with leaf compression. The bumpstop should limit your max compression, and the shock length the max extension. At rest with no load, the shock does nothing.

Im at a loss then as to why my leafs are compressed and the shackles are pressed back as if…..the shock isn’t long enough. I had to compress the leafs to get the shocks on.
