2020 Tundra Platinum. Starting today, the interior map and dome lights (front and back) stay on when all doors are closed (no "Door Open" warning on the dash either) and the dome light switch is set to DOOR. Only way to turn them off is to set the switch to OFF.

Any ideas? I checked the dome light fuse next to the parking brake and it's fine. :frusty:

There have been a couple of threads on the circuit boards in the map light console shorting out and the lights coming on.
    Although I can't find them.
My alarm kept going off for no reason a few months ago and the Drone mobile app stated there was an open door trigger.
Then after doing a few of those, the dome light fuse would blow and the alarm stopped going off.
Had the same thing, the dash said all the doors were closed..

I pulled the console, bent the tabs on the circuit board, they were really close together, and it stopped happening..
May have just been a coincidence..

I also had a loose LED map light bulb, but I don't see how that would keep the lights on.

In my case, it is the map lights AND the dome light (two totally different assemblies) staying on. Also, they will turn off if the dome light switch is placed into the OFF position, as opposed to DOOR.

Are you running halogen or LED bulbs?

Had switched to MESO LEDs but switched back to halogen today to see if it made any difference. It didn't.

Yes, my dome and maps lights were on after I closed the door.
30 seconds after I alarmed the alarm, it would go off.
They are on the same circuit, along with your visor vanity lights, the dinky floorboard light, and the key cylinder light....

    upload_2023-5-27_16-18-57.jpgupload_2023-5-27_16-19-17.jpg

Mine started on a 13-degree day.
I left the dome fuse out for a month until I had time to mess with it.
I did that to the console lights and it stopped.
It may have been a coincidence that it stopped over time...

I first thought I had a bad door switch but it stopped before I got that far..

I appreciate the diagrams but have no idea how to interpret them. What are some process of elimination steps I can do to isolate the problem? Or should I just take it in to the dealer?

Does your door switch work? Meaning when your truck is on and all doors shut it shows one open?

My guess is it's either a faulty door switch or the Dome CUT relay shown on the left in Post #6 first pic. That relay could be faulty and not breaking the circuit.

If that relay is an easy to access and cheap part, I'd swap that first.

This may sound like a stupid question, but have you tried to manually turn off the dome and map light themselves? If the switches are on, they wont turn off when the door is closed.

Door switches seem to work fine in that the dash display does not show any doors open.

On my 2014 even if I left the door light switch 'on' with the doors closed, they would time out after a while.

My custom puddle lights and LED footwell lights are tapped into that circuit.
If I'm cleaning the interior with the doors open, everything on that circuit times out (I'd guess after 10 or 15 minutes) and goes off to prevent battery drain.,..

If you close the doors and lock do they just stay on endlessly, or will they eventually time out and go off?

Prior to this problem, yes, they would time out after a few minutes. It was a courtesy feature. Now, they will stay on continually. Driving, parked…doesn’t matter.

I believe it's the Dome cut relay then cause if it wasn't I think your headlights would also stay on instead of timing out also?

Reading through that instruction manual, you test voltages and if it's your relay they make you replace the entire door junction box. Seems like it's either the ECU or the junction box since it doesn't appear to be your door switch.

These being on even when driving. Thats a new nugget. I assumed they were off when driving. Would add another potential component into the equation.

Your "door" setting on the switch may be broken and it's set to ON even with the door option selected. Which would explain why they are on when driving.

The auto time out feature wouldn't matter if that was the case.

Does your other light, the bed light time out? [IMG]

Yeah, when set to DOOR, the bed cargo light turns on and off as it should.

Well if the timer works for you bed light, I'd tackle the cab switch first.

If you could buy and then return the new switch without a hassle from the distributor, it would be an easy part to swap in to see if it fixes it.

Yeah. I’m still under warranty for about four more weeks, so I may just take it in to the dealership. Will be the first time in three years.

Yep, with 4 weeks of warranty remaining, I would be having the dealership run this one down.

Well sheeeeet. I was working this cause I thought I was saving ya some troubleshooting money. I'd 100% go to the dealer also.

Bro, not going to the dealership should always be the goal. Huge inconvenience, without the truck for a few days, and they always try to sell you shit you don’t need.

Well, I took it in to the dealership today and requested they fix the dome light issue and disable the seatbelt chime. I suspect they did the seatbelt chime first cause apparently the dome light issue is miraculously fixed now. Only thing I can think is that hooking it up to TechStream did something to fix it.

They gave me that whole innocent look and “It worked fine for us” like I was crazy. Had to tell them “I’ve been driving this truck for three years, I know when something is working or not working.” Glad it’s working now but kind of frustrating cause SOMETHING they did fixed it but they’re too dense to figure out what they was so they’ll just put it down as “Could not replicate issue.”

Per the troubleshooting tree, replacing the ECU is one of the outcomes. I doubt it but who knows, maybe techstream did fix it.

Yeah its your truck's PC. If they reprogram something maybe it unfroze some setting or bug.
