Well just finished my first ever coating, took me around 8 hours and my paint was perfect and all the prep work has been done so just the coating itself was an all day thing for me, I took my time and was in no hurry, I used gtechniq csl and I topped it with gtechniq exo v5 I did all the glass and trim, headlights down to the mud flaps and I am very very impressed by this I was never a huge believer in this stuff but I am now and I would absolutely never pay to have this done it was very easy and I'll even say it's easier then waxing just take your time and make sure all the paint and prep is perfect and you will be fine

Can you mind sharing your process and what pads you used.

Sure, so basically I washed it and then used iron buster from p&s, followed that with clay bar mitt the light version and just did a single stage polish wich is all I needed, no compound necessary as my paint was in great shape as far as pads go I use my dewalt buffer with a 3m polish pad and the 3m polish I am an auto painter by trade so it is the same stuff we use at work on fresh paint after wet sanding dirt nibs so I didn't feel the need to go buy one of those buffers for paint correction as I have one that works really good, if I did it for a living I would prolly reconsider . So basically after all of that I started my coating wich basically involved me splitting each panel into two sections working the applicator in two different directions to make sure I missed nothing, let it flash to wear it looks like it's beading up and wipe with your first towel and follow with second making sure to level everything and not to leave any excess I did that for the glass and all the trim. Once that was done I pretty much already was over the 2 hour time to start applying the exo v5 wich is put on the exact same way but is an even more hydrophobic ceramic then the CSL and by adding both you pretty much just got yourself a 5year ceramic coating or more depending on how you care for a vehical .... just as a note I did change my towels often going through about 8-10 total towels and 2 different applicators, I forgot to add that before I started the coating I wiped the whole truck down with gtechniq panel wipe wich is like an ipa wipe with alcohol, pretty much gets the panel ready for the ceramic to bond the right way, I'm new at doing this but I'm a crazy person when it comes to the cleanliness of my vehicals so I def wanted to tackle this myself and see what it was all about, and I will say it was def worth my time and to save possible 15-2000 dollars doing it myself is even better

Looks great! Going to tackle mine this weekend I think; not looking forward to all the work but it'll be worth it. Did you do the wheels too? My yellow ebc breaks coat my wheels within a week with an insane amount of break dust.

You no it's kind of crazy that it now looks like a different shade of voodoo kinda like it got a little darker, my other car in the garage is a Lexus GsF and I bought that already ceramic coated and I swear when ever I see ultra sonic blue on any other Lexus it does not look the same either, who knows maybe this ceramic stuff does tint it down a touch idk !

Very nice work. With the newer versions of ceramic coatings, there's really no reason not to do it yourself.

I've noticed my voodoo paint looked much darker with a coat of meguairs ultimate but I just tried griots 3-1 ceramic and noticed no change in shade. Awsome color regardless.

That's pretty impressive results. I'm looking to do this to my voodoo blue, what was the overall cost with the gtechniq products?

Got the 50ml and that got me the entire truck including glass, all trim, door handles, headlight lights, taillights and wheels, still have enough left to maybe get the jambs done

    OP...
    You do Blue very well.
That's the best I've seen Voodoo look!.

    Great write up too.

Minor thing: "wich" in you context would be spelled "which" sounds the same, but totally different words.
Wich is a bundle of thread, or a settlement.
