    Hi all,
I come here to find answers for my truck, I have a mechanic do all my repairs for me because I don't trust myself to do work on my daily driver. But I do like working on cars. Perhaps in the future.

My question is, alongside with the greeting, is that if anyone has had trouble with the transmission? I bought my truck this year January and it was fine at first but recently starting giving me trouble. It struggles to switch gears when gaining speed, it eventually does so, but almost "jumps" it feels like. This is even after it warms up.

    Thanks

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

    Welcome from SC.

My 2013 2nd gen has just had a transmission rebuild, all but 250k miles on it. Fine one day, multiple codes the next. Yours could be as simple as a fluid level issue, or even just due for an ATF change, any idea when it was last done?

Just got the transmission fluid changed about a month ago, it was having problems before, it didn't change much after the fluid change. I asked him if he changed the filter he said no. Haven't checked the level, unsure how to.

    Thanks,
    Austin

Did you get it done at some 5 minute chain store type place? A conscientious tranny shop would have almost insisted that you had the filter changed at the same time as the fluid.

No, had it done at my mechanic. Looking elsewhere for another mechanic. After some searching on these forums I see a drain/fill 3-4 times is a common thing.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys.

No idea. Bought this car this last January, I'm assuming the previous owner took very minimal care of this truck. So I'm getting everything I can, within my budget, done.

    as a side note...

Repairs done since purchase 01/23 to date 09/20/23:
Took truck in to tranny shop, they said it was fine (also read on another post here that this is a common problem, problem with going to 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th gear)
    timing belt/tensioner/front brake pads/water pump(was leaking) thermostat.
    new radiator (was leaking)
just bought spark plugs friend who works on cars gonna help me put em in
    new battery
multiple new lights (headlight, fog light, bed light)
    new tires

You don't need to change the filter.

And as to "why", it's just a sheet of metal mesh which is more about screening chunks. It's not a paper or fiber element like you find in a lot of other vehicles. It's not worth popping off the pan to swap out the filter. Drain and fill; and note, it may not fix the trans. Also note, there's a late-shift thing that happens on the 1st gens naturally, when cold.

Appreciate that. As I read the forums more I think that's what's happening. I'll continue to drain/refill the tranny fluid.
