Has anyone else been having this issue with the hood bulge. I had this issue since I got the truck with it coming undone when closing the hood. I am currently moving from California to New York and have noticed the the push pins that run along the top are broken. The picture shows what happens at high speeds above 65 and this only when i noticed it.

Is this the original grill and bulge? Or have you modified anything?

I painted it matte black, but I never broke the pins when taking it off. I thought it was going to fly off when I first saw it since the wind was making move a lot. I know there are screws holding in place.

I wonder if in the process of removing it and putting it back the plastic clips were stressed but not broken. The stress may have caused weak spots that broke from the pressure of the air, when you drove at speed?

I did the same thing to mine when I put lights in the hood bulge. I never got around to fixing it I just replaced it with a painted one. But I believe you might have busted some of the plastic welds on the back of the hood bulge.

I know this is an old thread, but this happened to my rig as well. Sucks. Just closing hood like a normal one and now hood bulge is broke. Seems pretty cheesy in its design.

After I posted here that I had no issues, few months down the road going to Dallas for work I saw this happen and
Same happened to another member @Acrotalus I came up with a solution, involved drilling small holes into HB and zip ties, turns out the clips become brittle and crack and break off, I'm assuming due to weather, my Tundra is outside 24/7 365 and opening and closing of hood puts strain on those clips

My 3rd gen Tacoma hood would flutter and vibrate like a kite in the wind because Toyota failed on the hood adhesive and my coworker who just bought a 2019 Tacoma has the same issue. Haven't had any issues like that on my Tundra... yours looks like some kind of material defect.
