I have a recalled tonneau cover on my 2022 Tundra and normally that would be no problem, however, I am scheduled to make a 2600 mile round trip to Canada in another month and cannot make the trip without a cover on my bed, to cover fishing and camping gear. There seems to be no details about where the weak link is on the tonneau connections to the truck. I am hoping to find out additional information about this, allowing me to reinforce the hardware holding the cover on. I have looked at holding the top down with turnbuckles, and possibly reinforcing the link using industrial grade Velcro. Again, these would be used to simply add strength to the existing connections. I cannot make this trip without having some kind of cover on my truck and the only option Toyota is offering is to buy back the cover.

If anyone has additional info on specific details on the potential point of failure, I would appreciate the help. It's much easier to reinforce a weak point if you know exactly where that weakness is. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like you have time…get the refund from toyota and buy a different tonneau.

    That’s what I did.

Thanks for replying. Were you able to find one with the same quality? I really like the features on this cover; it doesn't seem to have some of the problems of other covers that friends of mine have with earlier tonneau covers.

I just got a rollup tonneau for $200-. I eventually want racks. Until then, this one will do.

Toyota's cover is not unique. They contracted with someone to make it, most likely one of the well-known manufacturers. There are several similar ones. I had an Undercover Armor for about a year. I recently upgraded to a Diamondback, which I love, and has been water tight so far.

The Bakflip is a nice cover if you're looking for a replacement.

Thank you all, that is good information. I am going to consider my options carefully. Since Toyota offered to buy back this cover, it's good to know that there are viable alternatives.

I don’t have any recommendations but there are plenty of really nice tonneau covers out there.
I hope you can find one you’re happy with!
