A lot of people swear by Seafoam but I think Techron cleans better

Check azon you’d be surprised how cheap a new carburetor is

You would think if the compression is gone it would not crank at all or run rough wouldn't ya?

I like the idea of carb cleaning or replacement!

Ours started being hard to start. Progressively got worse over 3 years and finally started smoking when it ran. My first thought would be tune up with carb cleaning (rarely works). New spark plug etc. then valve adjustment. Not hard to do yourself. Set of valve feeler gauges and the right specs, just turning some nuts. If that fails and you feel good about the motor otherwise, new carburetor is probably cheap online.

Well I went got some Gumout and Seafoam. got'er cranked up with ether and warmed up the motor real good then pulled the air filter off squirting gumout up in the carb throat, actually the duct work but it wanted to stall out so it was doing something. Never saw any puffs of smoke or anything. Then I put an once or two of Seafoam in the crank case and some more in the gas tank. Ran for about an hour, cut the front weeds (no grass growing yet) and during that time I would stop it for a minute and test the crank, by the time I got done it was cranking on first bump. We'll see how that holds out. I watched a video on how to replace the carb, think I need to find a small engine guy around here to do it.

I'll change oil and drain gas later this week, supposed to be up in the 80s mid week.

Cub Cadet zt2, 60" deck. We have a large property and I keep roughly 2 acres of it cut, plus the road frontage and a few trails. It has a kawi motor. Had it a few years now and it performs great, although, I need to get more aggressive tires for some of the sloppy areas and a few spots where the ditches are a little steep. The property is still rough and far from a nice lawn. The ride is rough so I use a gel foam seat pad, but it's a good machine overall.
I did the initial heavy work with the brush hog and a chainsaw. I need to get everything smoothed out and nice before I beat the crap out of the mower (the front suspension on that Ferris looks nice. probably $$$ though). The cub cadet was $4k from Tractor supply a few years ago.
Thought I had better pics of the mower, like a glam shot of it sitting on the trailer when I brought it home, but could only find one with the supervisor sitting on it in the garage.

I finally get to post in this thread. Wife said why are we paying a guy $100/month to cut our grass? I said "Here, hold my beer."

    19HP
42" cut (we don't need more as we have lots of trees to go around so this is perfect)
    Hydrostatic transmission
    Mulch kit ordered
Dump trailer with matching wheel color on the way haha

My buddy came over and we are doing Tundra stuff. He saw the mower and asked exactly that..."How tall are we going with it?" Haha

I told him they actually have a brush guard for it. I doubt it does much but eh it looks cool lol.

Y'all asked for it. just under 300 hours clocked, lost the front guard about the same time my Wife drove it up in a tree root and busted the mower deck and I had to get "Tiny the Welder" out and had him fix it. New tires on the front last year. Guess it was out of alignment....
Last oil change oil ran clear, keep all the filters clear and clean. Going to be spreading out Pennington's Centipede seed and Mulch out most areas. all that brush behind the mower will be gone in a couple of weeks, hired out a guy to clear it back to the property line and will plant something nice down that area.

No, it's an option I never bought. It would be ripped off first drive around my yard. I do a lot of duckin' under the overhangs.

You can still haul the beer around in it.
Just sucks that you have to stop, get off the mower and get one, instead having them hand you one on the go.

98 model Grasshopper 614. Got about $300 in it all together. Cuts good, 46 in. Having the deck all the way in front helps you get in and cut things you usually couldn't, only downside is it's 8ft long. Planning to run it till it quits.

Ordered new rear tires for the zero turn. The stock tires are still good, but they're not great for steep hills/ditches or sloppy wet areas.
Called a local small engine shop and they want $30-50 EACH to swap the tires. And that's with me taking them off and bringing them just the wheels/tires.
Looks like I'll be doing them myself.
Only $150 for the set. A place in TN, through Amazon.

The hardest part is seating the bead
A ratchet strap around the middle of the tire helps sometimes then there's always the ether method but its especially dangerous on smaller tires

I really wanted a TimeMaster, but can't justify the cost for our 1/4 acre lot. So I bought this one...still pricey, but works like a dream. This is replacing a 1987 Toro that is still running great, just a bit heavy and cumbersome for when Mrs. Catus needs to cut the lawn. The renter neighbors aren't much on weed control.

Forgot to post a pic here. There was blood and swearing. It was a very hot/muggy day and one tire really didn't want to seat. Had to pump it up to over 40psi and bounce it like a basketball to get it to pop on.
Max psi is 32 and they run at like 7psi
It was a PITA but I saved $100 and it's done.
Next I need to see if Kawi makes a supercharger. Then I'm done with mods.

@RichterScale - how are these working? I've got a 48" ZTR that mows just fine, but there are some slopes on our new property that cause mine to slide a bit in wet grass. The stock tires look just like your OEMs and I'd like to try something like this.

Eventually I plan on upgrading to a small lawn tractor (e.g., small Kioti or Kubota) but for now I'd like to get as much out of this mower as I can.
