I own a 2023 SR5 and was learning about lift kits and I ran across this video on YouTube. The guy is saying Toyota voided his warranty because he added a 2” leveling kit. This is my first truck and I don’t know anything about lifting trucks, big tires, and anything truck related, but I’m still learning. I only post this to get people’s opinions so I can get the straight dope and become more informed.

Also, the TRD lift kit says its $3,995 and adds 2.6” of clearance. Is that worth it?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Just came across that video as well. Hope that guys experience was an extremely rare one! Seems strange such a mild lift would cause the issues he’s seeing. I’m also interested in how many other people have come into similar issues.

From what I can tell, manufacturers can only deny warranty work if they can draw a logical cause/effect between an aftermarket accessory and whatever is in need of repair. In the US, I believe the case law is referred to as the Magnusssen-Moss Act.

    1) a lifted truck with aftermarket parts has an issue with CV axles. There “may” be a logical cause from the aftermarket parts.

    2) a lifted truck with aftermarket parts has an issue with turbo wastegate. There isn’t a direct cause/effect between the two. The turbo should be replaced under warranty.

I know it’s been discussed on here before, but like the OP I’m curious, has anyone recently come up against any dealerships refusing warranty work with aftermarket suspension lifts? What was your specific circumstances and how did it work out?

It depends if you lift your truck and your cv starts to leak Toyota will tell you to go f yourself, I’ve lifted all my Toyota trucks and I will say whether it’s stock or modded Toyota will deny most warranty issues unless it’s grossly Toyotas fault

that being said I’ve never had issues with them fixing non suspension related stuff (well the stuff they wouldn’t claim was normal and deny) under warranty with my lift

This boils down to how many skill points you've invested in your magic talent. If you're like me and spent all your points on combat/resilience and neglected the arcane arts then there's a good chance things will fizzle when you cast Magnussen-Moss: lvl 7.

At least have a mage in your party or you'll have zero defence against service writers.

My 2020 Crewmax with 46k miles on it and 3/2 leveling kit has a blown and leaking RF shock and the RF inner CV boot is slinging grease.

I wont even bother trying to get it covered under warranty... as Im sure they will shoot it down.

May be time for a pair of 6112's and 5160's
