There are power plants all over the country. In fact, a lot better companies to work for that offer 401k matching, profit sharing, and higher pay. Start there.

Might wanna look at the cost of living as well.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    Probably just as well.

If you go back and then quickly want to leave again it's an odd blip on your resume that will make other potential employers ask questions.

After talking with the VP of Operations, which is the shitty manager's manager, I would essintially be taking a step backwards from the position that I was in before, which was department manager( man there are a lot of mangers). Anyway, I would be more of a lead inside sales, point person, helping create SOP's and KPI's for other individuals in the company, helping with procurements and backorders. We haven't talked numbers yet, but I'm sure it will be pretty close to what I was making and I'd get to work from home with better hours. I wouldn't be dealing directly with the asshole manager, but I would still be based out of his location, since they are the ones that need the most help.

Part of me is very tempted by the hours, familiarity, potential pay bump from my current job, not having to wait on PTO days, etc. I think my gut is telling me no, though. I have a final, in person interview with another company along the same lines as what my previous employer is painting a picture of tomorrow, and I'm sending the VP of Operations my thoughts on what my role at the PE would be if I were to come back tonight to see what number he would be at. I have to entertain both.

Just an update. I went through the interview process. Everything went great. I applied for a Parts Coordinator role, but they called me back to discuss becoming an Account Manager. I have an offer that I'm reviewing and should be starting next month.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone that chimed in. It's nice to have a place to put your thoughts down and hear other experience and opinions. We are truly lucky to have this type of community on what essentially is an enthusiasts website. Having not any of you personally, I do consider all you friends/peers.

Congrats! Account manager, it will depend on whether you like it or not.
I used to hate it because a lot of cold callings, but in my current company, my SEVP is looking to transferring me to sales team to help with the Gulf region, and it is mainly 85% old/existing customers with maybe another 10% old/dropout customers that we might call on later on. I think this will work out for me better, but I am still thinking on it.

From what they were telling me, it's more of a customer support role. They have sales people in place to do the selling. I will have to promote the SLA service programs they have, but to existing customers.

Good luck on your journey as well.

Ah, so more inside sale/support. That should be good, if you don't have to promote cold call customers, that might be easier.

Congrats on the progress! I had a similar kind of twist in my own journey.
Back in the day, I was working as a barista and got offered a chance to switch to a store manager position. It was quite a leap, and I had some doubts about the move - can I handle it, am I cut out for it, you know, the usual anxieties. But in the end, I chose to embrace the change, and I gotta say, it worked out well.

The experience gave me a lot more confidence and actually motivated me to start my own thing. The funny thing is, I always had this dream of opening my own bakery but didn't think I had what it took. And I didn't even realize how easy it is to open your own business until I did it.
I won't get into details about the steps because there's a bunch of information online. Like for example, visit this site.
This experience pushed me to take that leap. It's been a rollercoaster ride, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thanks. I've been at it for 4 weeks now. There is a lot to learn going to the steel machinery industry from medium duty trucks, but maintenance and customer support are my main focuses right now. There are some things that are a challenge, but they are easing me into it, for now. I'm sure this is not without its challenges as well, but it has been good so far.

Deciding whether to return to a previous job can be a complex and personal decision. It's important to carefully consider various factors before making a choice. Here are a few points to consider in your situation:

    1. Evaluate the reasons for leaving: Reflect on the reasons why you left your previous job, including the burnout and the negative experiences with the manager. Consider whether those issues have been resolved or if there are indications of positive changes within the company.

    2. Company culture and environment: Take into account the overall culture and work environment of the company. If the manager's behavior and the negative atmosphere were prevalent throughout the organization, returning to the same environment may not lead to a positive experience.

    3. Career growth and long-term goals: Assess whether returning to your previous role aligns with your long-term career goals. Consider if there are opportunities for growth, advancement, and personal development in the company. If your new job aligns better with your career aspirations, it may be worth continuing to explore other options.

    4. Communication and trust: During your conversation with the company, pay attention to how they address the concerns you had previously and if they provide a clear plan for improvement. Consider whether you feel they have acknowledged and taken steps to address the issues that caused you to leave in the first place.

    5. Future prospects: Consider the potential impact on your future job prospects. Returning to a company where you had previously resigned may raise questions during future job interviews. Ensure that the decision aligns with your overall professional trajectory and doesn't hinder your future opportunities.
Ultimately, the decision to return to your previous job or move forward with other opportunities should be based on a careful assessment of your personal circumstances and career aspirations. Weigh the pros and cons, listen to your instincts, and make the choice that feels right for you.

Always consider going back, but this time, you get to set the terms. Make sure if you do go back that you're satisfied with the $$.
