Our thermostat is actually in Celsius. :(

69 is a good temperature for winter but no way in hell am I paying to cool the house that much in summer.

69 Freedom Units = 21 Celsius. I wouldn't want my house much warmer in summer.

I trained my missus down from 77F, some of her friends set theirs at over 80C in the summer...and people wonder why Floridaman exists.

72F at night in the summer, 74 during the day when we're at work - too much difference between the two and the handler freezes up.

Edit: And during sleepy time that's 72F with a ceiling fan blowing on mid setting!
For the winter, I did tell her that the heating in my house in the UK wouldn't come on until temps fell below 14C/57F but she went this funny blue color and put her foot down.

The Woman is home all day, so we programmed ours to stay at the same temp all day. We just got the AC unit, so I need to figure out exactly what's going to work long term and how big an impact it will have on our already insane power/gas bill (thanks carbon tax...). I've been shutting the whole thing down at nights since it's dropping to around 50F and the house cools off decently.

Yeah, we shut ours off at the moment at night, the freezing issues are a summer thing that we used to get when I'd come home, collapse like a pile of melting lard and jack the thermostat down 10 degrees, it no likee.

Edit: Our gas bill goes through the roof in the winter with the heating on and then goes to almost zero in the summer, the electric goes down in the winter and then through the roof in summer, if we're lucky we get a few months in between hot and cold weather when neither is high.

When it's my wife's day to get up with our daughter, she sleeps until 10. When it's my day to get up with her, she's whining and crying by 6:30.

Oh good. I'm not the only dad who deals with that. At least when it's diaper change time, little AK lets me do it and get it done quick and easy. She squirms around and tries to kick The Woman non-stop and it takes 3 times longer than when I do it.

We have howling Coyotes. I'll tell you what really makes them angry; A 50 gr soft point spit out of CZ 527 chambered in 222 Rem. It does keep things quiet for the rest of the night. The Buzzards know the sound of a nighttime rifle means breakfast the following morning.

My only complaint about my wife is dropping last-minute appointments that she swears she told me about last week.

I tell her that unless she gets my undivided attention and looked me directly in the eyes and confirmed with me what she said, it never happened.

Other than that we like the same house temp, she doesn’t chew loudly or have “quirks”. Been married 20 years.

And she probably did tell me about the appointment, I just forgot.

Ya I saw that earlier this week. She is damn lucky it didn’t get up and charge her.

I have the wife add any appointments to the family calendar to avoid that.

This is a touchy subject, but Boomers. We’ve lived around them in various states and cities and notice certain patterns. They’re nosey - always asking way too personal questions about our lives. They have no filter and no respect for personal property or space. We had pavers done in our backyard and about a week later I see a boomer standing in my backyard checking out my pavers. Freaked me out for a second so I go out there and ask him what he’s doing, and he just starts in with questions about the pavers, no introduction or hello or anything. Get off my lawn old man!

They can’t understand that my wife works and I stay home and raise the kids. They first ask “what does your husband do” and my wife says he stays home with the kids, and they ask “oh so he’s retired”, my wife says “no, I work”. “Oh then he must have a pension” no, I work she says. “Oh, well what do you do, where do you work at, how much money do you make?”

This is not a one-time occurrence, and boomers never want to answer those same questions when turned on them.

Sorry, but this does piss me off. We had some trees planted that backed up to a nature preserve and the bitchy-ass boomers went to the city and complained. They complained about native trees being planted in a nature preserve because they went a little over the property line. These boomers don’t even live near us. They were just complaining to be a-holes.

I know I’m gonna catch hell from a lot of you and get the “what for” and the “how come”, and I know other generations have their issues, but man, some boomers can be a huge PITA for no good freakin’ reason at all.

People in general are a huge pain in the ass and while a lot of older boomers are a self aggrandizing bunch of assholes I find that many Gen Z and Millenials are a bunch of whining fucktards who should quit moaning and do some proper work.

Edit: Nice one on being the family childcare person, that's a gotta be the toughest job anyone can take on.

I find the boomer observation quite fascinating. Or rather befuddled and confused by it. Being born in 1956 I get lumped into the group that were fathered right after WWII. I guess I'm just too old and feeble to understand or see it.

Yeah millennials are on the list, too. There’s probably some down-to-Earth boomers, but I haven’t met them yet. Like my neighbors, boomers who keep their house immaculate, but judge me because my house is only clean. In their mind it takes only a few minutes to pull some weeds or whatever, but with a two-year old and a newborn, those weeds are low priority until I get time to do them after the more important stuff is done.

Literally they need to worry about their side of the street and get a life.

You do have a point there. Seems the elderly do like to complain about the most trivial things.

For the last few years I've been mowing the gully between my side of the neighborhood and the front.

i'm irked that the new guy that built his house closest to the gulley decided he'd mow it, and he scalped it way down. Gonna put up a no trespassing sign on his side.

And to be clear I don’t hate Boomers, I’m just a “live and let live” type person, and it feels like they’re a “live like we do or you’re wrong” mentality. I’m cool with most anything as long as you’re not breaking the law.
