2023 sequoia SR5 TRD off-road Phoenix

Hello all. My name is Chris and I’ve owned my 2023 sequoia for a month now. It’s a 2023 sr5 trd offroad 4x4 tow package with heated steering wheel. I’m out in Phoenix but purchased in Santa Barbra. I have installed trd pro wheels/tires, trd pro grille, rigid sae 20in light bar, westcott pro light bar bracket, and RC 1.75 front leveling kit. I have air lift rear bags on the way. Are you planning to trim/remove the lower air dam at some point?

 

I’ve taken it off already it’s just held by 10 screws. I may just take it off when going off-roading. I’m sure taking it off will lower my mpgs as well.

 

Installed 2022+ Tundra ultimate rear air lift kit. A band saw came handy here. The mounting points are the same but the rear shock top mounting point is a few inches closer to the rear axle than tundra. I had to notch the bracket about 1/2”. I’m going to keep 5 psi in the bags and see how the ride is. 5 psi gives me 1/2 lift in the rear which is a good thing. The RC front spacer lift left my front 1/2” higher than the rear.

 

The pro doesn’t come in 8 seats so I had to make my own. I want to black out the window trim, and ideas? I’m not sure about plastidip

Hi - Are you also considering replacing the fender flares with the camo-pattern fenders of the '23 Sequoia TRD Pro (with the marker lights)?
I've been trying to get the exact part numbers for the TRD Pro flares, but the Toyota Information System at the dealer keeps coming up with Tundra TRD Pro flare part numbers.

 

Hi yeah I’ve thought about this but the difference between the two are pretty minor from far away, would be cool though. True, dealers don’t have a ton of part numbers on sequoia yet. If you find out something let me know. I think my max price on this mod is $500. Oh sr5 with trd off road too sweet, there’s not a lot of us around.

 

Added a cornfed 2022 tundra 1” rear spacer. So this is a RC 1.75 front and cornfed 1 rear. Looks and drives nice. .5” higher in the rear.

 

How much does the fan on the garage ceiling help with PHX summer?

I have 5 or so small fans running 24/7 to lower temps a few degrees.

 

That is a nice set up with airbags. I like just a little tilt with the rear sitting higher.

 

Still hot as hell but it’s works well.

 

Do you have any info on it? brand etc?

I just got a Limited in Lunar Rock with the TRD Off road package. Looking to do the TRD Pro grille swap first thing. Did you do yours yourself? Im wanting to get the marker lights and light bar to do it all at once.

The limited has chrome door handles as well as the chrome window trim. I’ve seen a few recommendations to dechrome at a place that installs car wraps. It’s a route I might go with. I’m looking into whether the 23 Tundra door handles will work on the Sequoia for a color match swap.

 

Thanks! Welcome to the forum! Yes I did do the swap myself. It took about 3 hours and the entire from bumper needs to be removed so be prepared for that. Checkout YouTube for a good step by step guide, if you need help finding let me know. If you need any help at all let me know. I did install a relay off of the fog lights for the light bar. Also be prepared to run a power line from the trunk to the front. Yes I couldn’t stand all the chrome on the limited so that’s why I went sr5 but the limited comes with some good options that I missed out on.

 

FYI your significant other may have a heart attack lol. I would do it overnight.

 

Man, I might have a heart attack I watched a few YouTube videos on Tundra grille swaps, it’s definitely intimidating. I’m actually more concerned about wiring the switch for the lightbar.

 

What bar and switch are you installing?

 

Baja Designs or Rave Off Road, but I’d seen some reviews and comments saying Rave had moisture issues in previous light upgrade kits in the past.

 

Nice! I think you did a couple of the same things I planned to do. With the Airlift…does the 5psi in the bags cause the ride to suffer? Also, did you get a MPG loss when you removed the front air dam? I have been contemplating both of those and even have the Airlift Ultimates coming (hate the squat when I put my boat on it), but I didn’t want to mess up the ride so I have been thinking about just using a weight distribution hitch. Also, I hate the low air dam and have been thinking about removing, but I haven’t yet done that either.

 

Airlift at 5psi made my ride about the same if not better. FYI with the ultimate you don’t need to leave any pressure but I do leave a little. I did not remove the air dam as I’m afraid the mpgs will drop off and I don’t really mind it. I don’t run a distribution hitch on either my 4K pound boat or 4K pound double axle enclosed trailer and everything is smooth and looks good. Did you buy the 2022 tundra airlift kit? It will need modification to fit the sequoia.

 

Yup…I picked up the Ailift Ultimate kit. When I asked Airlift, they said they couldn’t confirm fitment yet but we’re working on it. I also saw a video by Yota Garage and they told me it would without modification, so I got it. I appreciate your intel on it. A small notch isn’t a big deal. I was more concerned about the ride. Thanks for the Intel!

 

Yeah you’ll see when you get there. There’s some frame areas where the mounting spots are different between the two. The shock is also at a different location as well. You’ll see when you line it up. I used my bench band saw to cut. Give yourself a couple of extra hours on install.

Our Platinum Sequoia has black window trim so you may be able to order it.

 

That’s opposite of years gone by. Previously SR5/PRO was black & Limited/Platinum was silver.

Yeah I tried m, unfortunately you have to order the whole glass for the rear apparently. Was like 900$ a side.

 

Yeah it was definitely an improvement in that area. No chrome at all on this one. Saved me a little work this time at least.
