Yes, I had to move mine from the top in order to get the bumper to fit. Mine was the Smittybilt X20 10K.

Here is an image of how I relocated mine. You can see the rest of my install on the first page of my build.

I was looking at your build and I like the way that you were able to mount the solenoid. I'm guessing that bracket came with the smittybilt? I got a warn evo 12s I'm not sure if it would have a similar bracket.

What are the relocation mounting options for the smittybilt X20 10k winch? I am looking at getting the Gen3 for my SSO bumper and was looking for suggestion on mounting the control box.

I see what @InfernoPRO did. Did those brackets come with?

I might get some time to put my write up together tonight, but I haven't finished my final mount location. It's custom, but pretty simple for my situation (or anyone that is running a power tray of some kind over their fuse box).

Inferno's setup is a Warn - they have a different mounting "plate" than the Smitty does.
Edit: I see now from the picture it looks like it’s maybe an older SmittyBilt. My mistake. But the Gen3 doesn’t have the same sort of mounting bracket.

    @colenation
Just posted my write-up in my build thread.
    (Direct link to the post)
I’ll add to that same post some pictures of the final stainless mount when I get it done either tomorrow or this weekend.

The brackets did come with the X20, but like was mentioned the new Gen 3 might not come with these.

I helped install an SSO slimline in a '15 Tundra yesterday with a Smittybilt X2O 10k. This may have already been mentioned elsewhere in the thread (I didn't read every page) but the provided winch anchor bolts from Smittybilt are M10 with a 16mm / 5/8" head. The slots in the bumper are also 5/8" wide. This means nearly 100% of your load is on whatever washers you elect to use.

In hindsight there was a bag of hardware from SSO (not Smittybilt) which we didn't use. They all looked like M12 but perhaps SSO included some M10 hardware with a larger head and we didn't realize it?

Shown here the winch bolts can nearly pass thru the slots and would I'm sure with a few light taps from a rubber mallet20230206_114133.jpg

I don’t recall that issue at all with my X2O gen3 12k winch. The bolt pattern on all those winches is universal. I remember the holes just lining up - no slots at all.

I agree with @RainMan_PNW. I don’t recall having any issues with those and specifically remember the predrilled mounting holes being round and not oblong/oval.

Interesting...apparently a fairly recent revision. This was one of my few complaints with the product, I feel the slotting was too generous.

My other complaint was that the front winch bolts require patience, dexterity, excellent vision and more patience to install. I'm sure that has been mentioned in the thread repeatedly. We nearly thru-drilled the lower sloped plate so we could just run a socket up from the exterior of the bumper.

I also recall doing all of the winch mounting while I had the bumper on my work bench.
Hitting the nuts trapped inside the winch feet was a treat, but I don’t remember any of that being nearly as much of a pain as getting the brackets mounted and aligned for holding the side bumper pieces on.

Hello Tundra folks: few questions pls
    - access hole, any advantages ??
    - light-bar quality and price what do you all prefer.
    Thanks

So I got the access holes for two reasons:
    - liked the looks
    - also can easily reach in and engage/disengage free spool (smittybilt x20 gen3)

Light-bar for me was the Heise 30”.
    - works well (IMO) and does what I need it too. I also found a site that had them for $80, so why not.
    - for the Alabama woods, a $600+ BD didn’t seem worth it.

    just my 0.02:)

Like Cole, I went with the access holes because I wasn’t installing the $2k Warn winch that has an electronic clutch, so I needed a way to reach in to engage/disengage the clutch to freespool the line out (same Smitty X20 gen 3).

I went with the Baja S8 light bar. Bullet proof, and easy to change the lenses in the future. I got a really good deal on it too (still way more than Cole paid for the Heise though)

So without the access hole how easy can the winch be reached from the back of the bumper ? I was just trying to avoid more bug/debris to be collected in the access hole. Thanks

You haven’t any access from back. It’s very tight back there. If you planning use your winch you better off with the access holes. I’m planning to take my light bar off to see evan more what’s going on during winching.

Loudoun county VA? I’m there too. I replaced my SSO with a C4 bumper last summer. It’s still sitting in my garage if you want to swing by & take a look at it. 100 bucks & it’s yours. It could use a wire brush for light rust removal. It has the access holes & BD S8 light bar cutout.

Looks like SSO ran into some financial trouble, got absorbed by another company, and no longer does Tundra bumpers?

    Dang it.
