A Canadian source for Cat Shields?

Seems to be a new outfit. Looks like 22+ is their only current offering.

 

They are new to the market. They’re reportedly bringing out a version for the hybrid model soon. I’m waiting for any reviews.

 

You have a 23 on the way. Maybe make a deal with them. Buy their plate in advance and install when your Tundra arrives and and provide them a review here.

 

I'll be giving them a try. Price is basically the same as a US made shield after exchange rate and no duties to pay crossing the line or shipping in my case since I'll go down to Edmonton this spring to pick it up.

The design looks pretty much the same as the other offerings too so that's good.

 

OK. Appreciate you sharing feedback regarding the quality and install once it’s done. Do you have a front skid plate? We’ve ordered the OEM TRD front skid plate for ours and I’d want to make absolutely sure any Canadian option works with it with no issues or additional hardware required.

 

No, I don't have the TRD skid plate (I kind of wish I had gotten it though). Asylum Dezyns says their plate will work with it though, in the same way other manufacturers do. It seems like there's really only two designs of these plates, this one which is also used by Talon, T-Tunes, Valhalla etc and the 2 piece version RCI makes which integrates into their full skid plate system.

 

I'll wait patiently for them to make a shield for the 2.5 gen, I guess.

 

Maybe contact them and see if they want to use your truck for measurments in return for a discount.

Let us know how it goes. They had a thread here briefly but they didn't meet the 50 post minimum for BST, so it got deleted. They said it's roughly a 4 - 6 lead time right now as they get everything set up, so I'll be dropping them a line about that time before my next trip to Edmonton. Won't be until mid spring though, so if you can get us a review sooner that would be awesome.

 

We do ship to Canada, but the shipping is pretty expensive on the shields, plus there are duty and custom fees. This might be a better option depending on how the prices work out.


I do not see us shipping any of our powder coated steel plates to Canada though. Just aluminum.

 

I’m considering them & curious if they have a skid set up planned too. I would have gone with talons, but I am ‘frugal’. I’ll pay for great products, & by all accounts talons is, but the Canadian shipping & duties / brokerage fees if applicable on cross border shipping can be huge. Gotta reach out to them & ask

 

I just sent Asylum a note regarding my 2020 Tundra.
I just starting to research the purchase of a cat shield. If Asylum will not produce one for my truck, any comments on the best shield out of the USA?

Thanks for the discussion and I would be happy to answer all of the questions.

- I currently have cat plates in stock for the 2022 + (non-hybrid) version and can ship right away. For those in Edmonton or coming through, I would be happy to install the plate for you, included in the price of the plate.
** This plate does work with the OEM TRD skid plate, just need to bend the little tab up to accommodate the cat plate underneath.
- I have scanned a hybrid and currently designing the plate for that, should be available in the coming month.
- I have also scanned the 2nd generation Tundra and that should be available following the hybrid.
- I am certainly considering the full skid plate package but right now just focusing on the catalytic converter protection situation as there are just too many folks with thefts out there, and that needs to stop.

I got my cat shield installed today for my 2021 Tundra. Amazing product, amazing service. It it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks @Mykeromachine! Now I can sleep easier knowing that my truck is protected!

 

@Mykeromachine I was just wondering if you’ve considered doing a fuel economy test with and without your shield installed. I’d be curious to know the results, no matter how small. Could possibly be another selling feature for us Canadians. Just a thought.
