I just completed a decon wash, clay bar, cut/polish and seal using chemical guys products. Ordered the OG clay bar kit and C4/P4 with the TorqX buffer. Took out many of the micro scratches, added a ton of depth and clarity. Was going to do the ceramic coat but just couldn’t spend anymore time, maybe next time.

Took probably 8-10hrs total and was a ton of work. The buffer started sparking and getting super hot towards the end of the cut stage which was extremely frustrating. Called chemical guys and was not impressed with customer service. I ended up taking the buffer apart a bit and it seemed to work for long enough to finish. Will be returning the buffer - not sure what I will get as a replacement.

Sadly, many others have had similar experiences with Chemical Guys customer service. Chemical Guys (TORQ) polishers are under-powered, and their polish and compound line leave a lot to be desired. I tried their 'V' line.....and then threw them away.....absolute garbage. The only item of any value in their product line, as far as correction/polishing is concerned, are the HexLogic Quantum pads.

Do not use the CG Carbon Force ceramic coating.....it's formula has never been updated to keep pace with the market, and it's a pain to install. For your first coating, Gyeon MOHS EVO is very user friendly and easy to install. If you're not going that far right now, apply a quality sealant like Jescar Ultra Lock Plus.....super easy to apply and remove.....very slick and glossy....will provide about 6 months of protection.

Replace your polisher with a Griots Garage G9....more power, better ergonomics, and a lifetime warranty. I use the Griots BOSS pads, as I find the thinner pads are easier to keep rotating with a free-spinning DA. There are tons of choices out there as far as compounds, polishes and pads.....sounds like you have some time to do some research now. For the record, the truck looks great.....just sucks about your CG experience.

Side note - what headlights are those?

From what year? My wife had a 2008 Sequoia and the headlights did not look like that

I think it’s 2018 trd. Somewhat popular mod there is a giant thread about it. A guy on this forum makes a great plug and play harness for it.

It's not uncommon for folks, when they start detailing, to begin with CG products. Chemical Guys does a great job marketing and hyping their products. There are so many choices out there, it is beyond confusing. I'm sure the OP will start researching other brands now, and will likely move on from CG.

It was a ton of work. The results are relatively good to me - But share what product line you think I should be looking at?

Now you've gone and done it...shown an interest in going down the detailing rabbit hole. On the up side, you've completed the hard part....that being the decon/correction phase, and have a sealant (I'm guessing Jet Seal maybe) on your truck. You can avoid adding any additional marring during the wash phase and the drying phase with good products and technique.

If you have a CG soap on hand, that is a good place to start, as their soaps are decent. There are better values out there, such as Meguiars HyperWash, available locally at Harbor Freight and online...but not anywhere else as far as I know. Use up your CG soap for now. There re many schools of thought as to proper washing...a lot use the 2 bucket method...I prefer the one bucket/lots of wash mitts method. Neither are fool proof. YouTube is your best friend here.

Drying towels.....in my experience, there are non better than Griots PFM towels....pricey, but worth it. I also have The Gauntlet by the Rag Company, which are good...just not as good as the PFMs.

When your sealant wears out, I'd recommend Jescar Ultra Lock Plus or Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray wax. Both are easy to use. You should not need to do any more paint correction, but if you do, there are tons of options. Locally available products include Meguiars Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Compound...both are decent. For pads.....I do like the CG HexLogic Quantums....but prefer the Griots BOSS line of pads to them.

Good luck....as the can of worms is open now

Like briarpatch said, you got the polishing out the way for a good while if you're pleased with how it is now. For ease of use and decent protection I like Optimum spray wax. (Amazon) or Autogeek website. I also like Collinite Insulator wax #845 for longer protection. Very easy application and removal and can get 6-9 months protection depending on environment. Polishes I'm currently using is either Griots fast correcting cream or perfecting cream and 3D One and 3D speed and occasionally 3D Poxy for protection. I hit my vehicles with optimum spray wax after almost every wash, it's so easy to use for a great look and a couple months of protection including UV protection.

I used to follow the latest and greatest in products but it's just not worth it. I have my washing and drying technique down pretty good to minimize swirls and scratches so I found a few polishes that I like that work and mainly stick to them. A nice quality spray wax after every wash or once a month goes a long way in keeping your vehicle fresh.
