Yeah I just found that post. I have a box that i got off of CL years ago that was custom built for two 8"Hertz. The seller kept the speakers. I have two Alpines in it.

I need a shallow box. The one I have from tech12volts isn't shallow enough to keep my speaker from hitting the underside of the seat.

You know. I have always liked jl subs from back in the day when the best thing going was jl subs, mb quart and precision power amps. BUT….. I have never heard a stealth box or even a regular big box from jl that I actually liked. I have had several different versions of their subs in many different custom boxes and they were awesome but maybe I expect something more for the price but I guess if your tight on space and don’t really care that much it may be perfect. I know they sell a ton of those boxes so someone must like them.

It sounds fine, although I didn't pay that much for mine 8 years ago.
I bought it directly from JL Audio.
Mine came with JL Audio 10TW3-D4s so it is 1 ohm as opposed to the current 2 ohm box...

It's a lot of money, but the subs alone are $450..

JL Audio 10TW3-D8 Shallow-mount 10" subwoofer with dual 8-ohm voice coils at Crutchfield

I didn't want Bubba's plywood box under my seat, and the selection wasn't as plentiful as it is these days, so I bought it..
    No regrets...:D

I've tried both boxes in my 14 DC built by JRT but I feel that my 2 x 10TW3 dual 8ohm subs running off a JL XD1000/5v2 amp is still under powered. I've sat in a GMC truck with a JL stealth box with 2 x 10TW3's and they hit a lot harder than mine. Assuming that my subs are underpowered from my JL amp that's the reason why my subs aren't hitting as hard.

Very easily.....I put the seat down lol. That box was previously built for Hertz. I bought the empty box from CL and took it to my audio shop and he said the Alpines would fit.

Just a heads-up for folks considering the JL Stealthbox...

Currently JL Audio is showing them out of stock with no expected date to return. Crutchfield is the same. It looks like Crutchfield drop-ships them direct from JL, so that makes sense. Not sure if this is related to the announced sale of JL Audio to Garmin or not.

Regardless, SonicElectronix showed 3 in stock online, and when I put one in my shopping cart, it also offered a "free" box of sound deadening material (40 sqft, for $80 with an $80 discount) so I phoned them last week to be sure that they physically had them. They reported that they NORMALLY don't stock them, but sure enough, had three. They offered to further discount, since I had bothered to call and talk to them. In the end, I ordered the Stealthbox, got the "free" sound deadening, and a bit of a discount on top that made my final purchase a bit less than the MSRP of the Stealthbox alone. I ordered on Wednesday, and it arrived Friday.

Interestingly, the sound deadening material, although not a brand I recognized, was thicker and more substantial than the pack of Dynamat Black (10455, 39sqft) that I had ordered the previous week for my install. Just thought I'd toss this info out there in case there is anyone shopping for a stealthbox and either having trouble finding it, or looking for a slightly better deal.

    Cheers!

Crewmax is temporarily unavailable. They have the DC box. How does it sound? I'm considering one for mine in the future to replace my current sub setup.

Ah, yes, sorry...should have been more clear. I was referring to the CrewMax version.

I honestly don't know how it sounds yet...I spent the weekend applying sound deadening materials (a mix of the Dynamat I already had and the box of stuff from SonicElectronix) to the doors and back wall. I also installed some Infiniti Kappa 6x9s I had in the front doors, and some Kappa 6.5 components in the rear doors. The Stealthbox is installed, nestled in it's newly sound-deadened seat back area, but not hooked up yet. I'm running the upgraded door speakers on the factory head unit until I get some more time in the garage to install the JL Audio Fix 82, TWKD8 and the amps. :) Then I'll decide if I want to dig out an old 2 channel amp and upgrade the dash tweets.

Gotcha. I just got my box yesterday. I was running those Alpine Type R's with a RF 500 watt amp. That amp is too small for the JL's. I'm going to see if my local shop has this tomorrow. https://rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/r2-1200x1/

What subs did you end up getting? The Rockford amps are good amps. I used to have the The Rockford BD1000 amp but got rid of it along time ago.
