I was getting around 16 +- in the summer and 14-15 in the cold. But after the tires I’m 12-13. I’ll see if there is any improvement when the weather warms up. I also know my driving style is not conducive to good mileage. I tried taking it a lot slower, but I get impatient driving like my wife! The other thing that is probably affecting my MPG is the morning warm-up. I get the car running 5 min or so before I leave the house. So I should improve once that stops.

Don’t know if it’s the heavier tire. Because if I keep my truck at speed limit going to work and not racing it I get between 15 and 16. Stomping on it. Then it’s about 12-14

I would agree mostly. Except that I stomped it the same before and after and there is definitely a change.

I love these tires too! Was running Duratrac's and CONSTANTLY getting traction light in the wet (yeah never rains in Oregon ) my only complaint is the snow, they don't seemingly empty as well as the DT's, but i haven't gone less than 20PSI yet either so that maybe the fix. Sweet tires!!! :mudding:

You’ll likely rub the front sway bar and be very very very close to the stock UCA.

    they’re a thick tire.

Hey guys, figured I would give an update on the tires. I have around 22k on them I believe. (I also haven't been around here much, I have other projects I'm working on)

Last year was pretty hectic with moving, getting settled in the house, etc. I hauled my trailer between LA and TN several times fully loaded (10hr 1 way trip) , hauled my camper up here, did lots of off roading trips, and just completely neglected rotating my tires since the move.

My front tires are trashed due to all this, so don't forget to rotate your tires. I'll be ordering 4 new tires to go on next week, and keep my 2 rear tires for spares (they're about half tread or so)

Other than my fuck up from not rotating tires, I have zero complaints. There tires have been incredible in every condition I've had them in. I've had many comments from other trail riders saying they're amazed how well this truck just sticks to hills. I believe the tires absolutely have a major part to play in that.

Has anybody run these with really low pressures ~10-15 PSI? (no beadlocker gloating please :crapstorm:) any issues?

Just spent a week on OBX ... put about 840 miles on the MT AT 255/85/17 ... hwy, local, beach they have exceeded my expectations so far
    1. Noise? I think they are quiet ... I ran Mich Coops & Hanks prior & I think they are on par w them all ... most importantly the boss said they were quiet
    2. Hwy ride? Imo they ride smoother than expected ... I drive fast on the hwy & they handled it great ... my biggest worry was wet weather driving which I got to test for 6 straight hrs on drive home .... they were great w handling & breaking
    3. Speed? There was about a 4 mph adj for speed on the hwy
    4. Mileage? This was much better than I anticipated ... all in MPGs were 18.5 .(I like to fill-up on 1/2 tank bc I am old) ... I wonder how much the pizza cutters helped this
    5. Beach? Aired down to about 18 & never had a problem ... now I was on local beach access but even straying off path was fine

Love the tires so far ... the looks are great & so far the performance has been great too

Edit: No issues w Tpms or sliding sensors in wet weather which surprised me a little

Does anyone have experience with these tires in red clay / heavy clay mud? The area I hunt in is very remote logging trails in Texas .Really in between these and the the mt Baja boss.

How do the MT Baja Boss AT compare to Nitto Ridge Grapplers in overall quality, performance, highway noise and tread life. CONS: looks like weight and balancing is a common problem. I’ve been fairly happy with 295/70/18 Nitto RG but I’ve noticed inner cracking between the tread lugs throughout the entire tire at 2 1/2 years and 23k miles in normal South Texas weather.
I was thinking on making the switch to MT Baja Boss AT.

Just another update on the MT Baja Boss AT 255 85 17s ... 882 highway miles mostly at high speeds & in some rain ... sitting somewhere around 3500 on them

My overall mpgs 17.4 measuring old school way (it is an '07 afterall)

Tires are still quiet quiet quiet for a 35 all terrain setup ... honestly I'm still surprised

Rain handling seems to be great so far

I am ivery mpressed & will keep updating as we go along

Hopefully can get some decent trail time

I'm so back and forth on these tires vs Toyo ATiii vs keeping my Yokohama MT G003.
Started driving a lot more miles than when I got the Yokos last year. Need some better road life and wet pavement handling but still need confidence going out exploring to remote fishing spots.

If the Baja Boss AT wasn't so heavy, it would be easier choice.

Toyo = Nitto. I was all set on the Toyo OC AT3 in 285/70r18. They're out of stock nation-wide. Nitto Recon grappler is roughly the same weight (59lbs vs 57 in that size) and "better looking" if you're into the aggressive sidewall All terrain pioneered by the KO2. The Mickey Baja Boss has taken that title in my opinion of the "best looking (whatever that means)" AT. Recon Grappler looks pretty great imo. 50 or 55k warranty too. I'll report once I finally get them installed.

My tireshop questioned why I didnt want the mickeys again, and I told him the weight. granted it was a 295/70r18, but man it felt like I was dragging an anchor on my 2014 DC. But they are killer looking (and performing - from the limited time I had them on).

I needed new tires today. The manager at Discount Tire highly advised me not to get the Baja Boss's that I wanted. He said of the 8 different set of orders, he's had 6 with balancing issues. He swayed me towards the Toyo Open countries.
I'm a little disappointed because I wanted the Baja's, but I took his word for it since he deals with tires for a living on a daily basis.

Imagine all the things those guys see in a day, i heard the same about balancing "issues" decided to ignore, and my Discount Tires they "didn't even need any weights" i bought them thru a different distributer, maybe they're getting the cheapest ones off the line... million different things could be at play

I had balancing issues with mine. Took them in 3 times to try and balance them, no luck. Had to warranty 2 of them with Mickey Thompson. Aside from that issue, I love them. They are heavy though and I will probably try something new next.

It seems to happen often with At/RT/MT/hybrid I’m reading on forums. I had two brand new Nitto Ridge Grapplers warranted out through certification at discount and it took two rebalancing and on third visit they replaced both. Only two week old tires. New set balanced well and the vibration is currently gone! So be persistent with balancing if vibration is present. Within 30 day a replacement/ refund is policy if they don’t balance. My fingers are crossed with this set!

Was worried about the balancing issues too esp on 17s ... my tire shop said they were no problem at all

    They do look tough

My new set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers 295/70/18 are running 100% better than the first set. So don’t settle just because the tire is new and isn’t smooth like it should be. My experience was incorrect/bad balance or defective tire but the replacements are smooth! I’m happy now.

I haven’t experienced the noise issues yet since I only had 10k miles on my first set of front tires before the cracking. My two in the rear are wearing great so let’s see how they sound/feel when I rotate them to front in 5k miles.
