Wife taking me out to MT and a little into WY late Sept/Oct for our anniversary. Asked me if I could go anywhere a couple years back where I'd go, and I said fly fishing out there (she looked at me like I was crazy, lol). Beaches are great, but not as peaceful as being in a river, so I have that to look forward to. Hopefully I have some pictures to share this fall!

Now if I could just get away for some steel fishing!

I believe we're staying two or three nights in the West Yellowstone area, which I believe is near the border or ne/e, WY. I imagine we'll try to venture into the park east from there a couple days. Definitely open ears on any advice people have for things to see. Goal is to just enjoy some fishing, see some wildlife and outdoors, and do a few (not too extreme) hikes.

We’re in Jackson and spend a good amount of time in the West Yellowstone area. I’d check out the Madison outside the park. You’ll mostly be in Montana in that area and into wyoming in the park. Message me with any questions, fishing is my thing.

I think we're starting near Butte for about 4 days, then heading to West Yellowstone area for a few, then all the way up to Glacier area for a few days. She's the planner - and without the kiddos to chase - I refuse to have a bad time while I become reintroduced to my wife, ha!

She is! The conversation where she told me was funny... Wife: we're going for 10 days on a fly fishing trip all over MT, booked us a resort and guide for a few days. Me: that sounds awesome, how are we affording this? Wife: I've been saving up for two years. Me: That's awesome.... I haven't been saving up for two years, sorry love!

In all fairness, I did make a deal with her to get new golf clubs (to replace my previous 20+ year old irons and 14 year old hand me down driver) and I'd spend twice that much on her anniversary band! Win/Win.

Its Spring heading in to Summer....I've got some Gila Trout chasing planned, and the WYO Cutt Challenge planned for late summer.

What all are folks doing for their fishing?

Honestly, not sure yet. My buddy has completed it a few times, so his GF and I will be doing the fishing this time, but it wont be until August or September. We had record snow here in Flagstaff; waters are just clearing up enough.

Same here. Normally I advise against coming so late but this year late summer should be nice. I’m in Jackson , pm if you are heading to Teton County and have any questions about the area. Been chasing Cutty’s here for thirty years

I appreciate that offer; thank you! Ive been up to Jackson a few times over the years and have enjoyed it. The family and I are planning to relocate to rural WY or ID in the next 5 years, so I will also be checking out some of the smaller towns and seeing if there are clinics that are looking to hire a psych PA-C.

I'll also be hitting up Melvin Brewing to grab some brews...love me some 2xThor

Nice. I work at the hospital here in town. They are currently expanding in the area of mental health. Check it out, it’s a excellent hospital

I covered a clinic of mine in Payson, and was able to get some time on the water for the first native trout species I caught...the Gila! Got my first one last year, and then the piggy today. Always good to be on the water, and the 10 miles of hiking was a welcome change from nutty psych pts.

Caught this beast of a Gila at the base of a waterfall on an ant pattern....second cast put the fly(ant) right in to the waterfall, and that's when it hit and hard!

I meet up with a couple of buddies in Casper every summer and fish the North Platte River with guides. We always catch some large Rainbows and a few Browns.

Been there and Gray's Reef for some fantastic fishing. I sure wish they would grade that road leading to the Miracle Mile though. That is one rough road.

I have wished for the same thing a few times in my life. But its probably the flyfishers edition of 'be careful what you wish for' my favorite spots always seem to be up a shitty road and a 5 mile hike at the end of it.
