    Hey yo. I bought a 2004 tundra 4x4 v8 sr5 DC with 187 k miles..
I am planning to use it as a work vehicle(HVAC and apartment maintenance)/weekend warrior for roadtrips and light offroading.
I was just a casual brower of this site, doing the regular maintenance my truck was due for...but it seems to be asking me to start the build-up.

I started with the water pump and timing belt, bought the aisin kit from rockauto for 260 shipped and had them installed for 525.

Then was the lower ball joints. I bought the LBJ recall kit, new hardware, 260 shipped from mcgeorge toyota, and installed them myself with help from my cousin.

I had a CV axle slinging grease on the passenger side, while I was getting it resealed(regreased and new clamp installed) at a shop, the mechanic noticed a small crack in the shock. Aside from that, the bushings also look pretty worn. So, it looks like I am going to be installing the leveling kit sooner than later. Darnit :D

I had them flush the PS while I was there since the fluid was darker than my ex wifes heart. I had them use the Valvoline Synthetic ATF I had on the truck. Amigo spilled PS all over the engine bay. I am hoping that it is the same fluid I found on the CV axle(and on almost everything around it) when I inspected it upon arriving home. Good chance it is since I found it all over the air filter housing as well. The PS reservoir is still amber in color, so looks like I will be redoing that in the near future as well.

    Anyways here are my future mods/maintenance in some kind of order;

    Maintenance TBD:
Lube chassis points(hoping it fixes the clunking when I start and stop)
ATF filter, drain & refill w/ Valvoline Synthetic
Differential, Rear LSD drain w/ Amsoil gear oil
    Transfer case fluid - Ravenol
BG Fuel system service, fuel filter, spark plugs, PCV valve
Switching to Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage next oil change, OEM air and oil filters

    Near future mods:
Bilstein 6112 Coilover Leveling Kit(hopefully I can afford a pre-assembled set, if not I may have to do 5100s)
    Bilstein 5100 rear struts
    fluid film undercarriage

    After that:
    Interior LEDs
Front component speakers, Compact powered subwoofer
Camper shell(hopefully I can find a used one nearby, no way I am paying +++3k)
    Rear sway bar by Adico

    After after:

Brakes(I like my truck to STOP)
    T100 Brake booster, Master Cylinder
GX460 calipers(truck came with factory 17's, not sure if its going to be worth it)
SS Brake lines w/ banjo bolt fittings
    Wilwood proportioning valve
(worth it to upgrade to rear discs)?

Taller Tires(currently riding on stock 265/70r 17, looking to do some taller pizza cutters like 255/80 r17) highway/snow performance is important
    Sexy 17" toyota rims

12 Hole fuel injectors(I know the forums like Dirty Deeds, anybody have any luck with these eBay sellers that are upgrading OEM fuel injectors?)
    OEM Navigation Head Unit

    Update:
Whole project came to a stop for a bit because the truck was showing signs of head gasket failure...you can read about it here..to be short the A/C condenser had some stains and I'm hoping a new radiator will be the last of it.

Ordered one from a nearby Toyota, Gates hoses from rockauto along with Aisin Coolant and thermostat
I will probably run it with distilled water for a few days before filling it with aisin pink

Ordered 6112/5100s from Wheelers Offroad, they are having a sitewide %10 sale right now, additional %10 if you sign up for their newsletter.
I didnt notice during the ordering process they never ask me the ride height, so they set it to what they felt like without calling me and now instead of a 2" front lift I have them set for 1.3"
i Was thinking about getting them adjusted but I think it may look better with my stock 31.6 tires

What used to be just seeping at the power steering rack boots, is now developing into a drip. Probably due to a recent fluid flush thinning the fluid out. I'm gonna take it to the gearheads tomorrow and have them install new clamps on the boots, after that I'm going to do a quick flush and install ATP re-seal, and then pray to power steering i dont need a new rack

I just saw your thread here. Skip the filter, it's hardly a filter at all and you risk breaking trans pan bolts. Drain and fill would be good. Does your truck have the 4 speed or the 5? Can't remember if 04 was the first year of that. Dipstick or no dipstick?

When you get to brake lines, any reason you want banjo? I ran stainless to both calipers and to the rear, didn’t see a reason to switch fittings.

this is 4 speed and has the dipstick. I may skip the filter if it’s not worth the trouble of dropping the pan

    Update:
Flushed the power steering today. I Followed this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/power-steering-flush-how-to.85254/

I messed up though and let the res dry multiple times, geez I didn’t know it would suck fluid that fast. Made the steering wheel shake during the bleeding process(engine on)

the reservoir was pretty filthy and very tough to clean.I tried break cleaner, dish detergent..nothing was making a nick in the grime..
Then thought this res kinda looks like a dirty bong..so I whip up some bong cleaning solution(isopropyl alcohol and sodium chloride) shook it like a martini, and voila
I can now see PS fluid level
Steering rack had a slight drip at the bellows so I threw in some ATP re-seal.
Also noticed during the flushing process a thump on the end of my left turn, which is absent on the right turn. Worn tie-rod or rack is going out..?

    Update:

The truck overheated again after I replaced the radiator. Shortly after, I pulled the oil stick and it was definitely the mixture we hate to see...

I should have took a picture but I was definitely heart broken.

I took it to a family friend mechanic. Turned out it was not the head gasket but a head bolt had cracked. I wish he would have stopped his work there and just replaced the bolt but he opened the heads, replaced the gasket etc..

Now its back together, but the engine sounds crazy like the valve timing is off. I dont have the actual engine code, I will be taking it back tomorrow. First I will be removing the ignition interlock I have on it since it is a pain for any mechanic to work on it/start it.

    Ill keep you all updated.

    Side story.
Now I'm driving around my parents old acura rdx. The car was not in good condition. It had not been driven in a while and the battery wouldnt even turn anything on. I got the battery charged up and got it running but found a whole list of issues.
First the car died on me at a stoplight. Luckily it was around the corner from my house, my friend came and jumped me but the car dies as I turn down my street just a few blocks away from home. Turns out the alternator took a crap.
Got that fixed hoping it would fix the mis-firing when idling. Turns out all that needed was an oil-change.
And the car made crazy noises when I was driving/stopping. I pulled up to a friends party and a mechanic there told me I needed new rear brakes. Took it to him for a new set of rotors and pads and now the noises are gone. Now the car is running great and the only known issues are a loose heatshield, and the A/C is not working.
