    305s are supposed to have 8.5"+ rims, and stock are 8".

    I had 325/65r18s (35x13) on 9" +25 rims on mine without a lift, and I couldn't make them rub. The top of the fender which is where I thought I'd have issues. I did a BMC and a bunch of other things to make clearance fore-aft.

    I didn't get an answer in here and I decided to just get 285x65r18 lol...would you believe me if I said I got these for $550 brand new? It was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up.

    Anybody here done the 2.5 inch levelling front end lift on their Tundra? Have the kit, not installed yet as I want to line up Tires and Rims to do it all at 1 time. Bought mine new in 2016 and came with Custom 20 inch PVD Rims. The Rims are shot as the PVD coating has almost all peeled off. Anyway, the tires on it from the dealer are 285/55/20's. Will replace the Rims with same size, but custom brand, and trying to find what size tire I can go with on the 2.5 inch lift, not a 2 inch, and not a 3 inch. Front end measurement is 36 inches from center Rim ground to top of front wheel fender arch. rear is 38.5 inches. Do not want to do any major trimming either. Any ideas, inputs appreciated. Well, I can confirm no rubbing with stock wheels and 285/65r18. After and before...

    What is your size preference? Do you want 37s?... because you can fit them with a 1"+ lift. What do you call major trimming? IMO the BMC is the biggest one if you don't know how to weld, but even then it's just a few $. Actually I cut mine and still haven't welded a plate on as I suspect it isn't needed... and so far that has been the case. Actually I don't think I even needed the BMC now that I've moved my wheels as far forward as I could with the alignment cams (max castor). The other "trimming" is basically free and not that much work. I have 35x13s.

    It's a common misconception that a lift using the shocks will gain you clearance. This is only true if you mount 37'+ tires and need clearance at the top of the wheel well. You may rub fore and aft with much smaller tires when you turn the wheel, if they are wide or stick out. Offset is important! And if you want to avoid rubbing even when you hit bumps, then a lift <6" won't help with clearance, vs zero lift.

    BTW, lift is measured from the hub center to the fender. Stock is ~22.0" front and 24.2" rear.

    Hi RRuff. Was looking at 295/65/20 for extra width and height on top of the 2.5 inch front end leveling to be added. I do need to change Rims as the stock ones that came with my model are the PVD coated type, and they are all basically 50% peeled off on all 4 wheels. Staying with 20 inch Rims just seemed easier knowing what I have right for clearance with my 285/55/20 tires on my 20 X 9 Rims. Have not looked at 37's though. With 20 inch Rims though, that might give the same results as you mention.

    Trimming is something i just have either neither the tooling, or space to do as I live in an apartment complex. I guess if I can find someone local who can cut, remove, reshape the front wheel well as needed, that is an option.

    If you really have stock rims the width is 8" and the offset is +60. If you want to make life easy, blasting and powder coating those would be your best bet I think. Less offset (sticking farther outboard) is going to make fitting harder, and all the aftermarket rims stick outboard more, by 1"+. Using stock rims with 295/60s (not 295/65s) should make fitting/trimming really trivial, if you want to make it easy.

    Or you can see if you can find a place that will do the trimming for you... offroad shop probably. You don't need a lot of tools to make clearance, but if you don't have DIY experience, tools, or inclination or a place to do it... :confused:

    I'd recommend a 2" front lift, else you might be ass-low. Easier to align with stock UCAs also, and less wear on the front end.

    Any idea on largest tire size for 2nd gen (2007) crewmax 4x4, 17 Icons +25 offset wheels. No lift or level for now, trying to avoid any trimming if possible. Thanks

    The offset will make it hard to avoid some trimming with a decent size tire. A lift won't help either, not if you want to avoid rubbing when the suspension is compressed.

    285/75r17 is probably your best bet. 33.8" dia. Might be a little trimming but not much.

    295/70/18 Ridge Grapplers on 100% stock TRD Sport package suspension. No rubbing. I did remove the front mud guards, but I removed them way before deciding to try this combo.

    *This truck IS NOT the TRD PRO with the 2" higher front end.

    Possible keys to success-
    * Stock offset wheels
    * Aftermarket skid plate.

    I'll give it a better look tomorrow and see if there is any red paint missing, but it didn't appear to.

    I have a 2016 two-wheel drive with no lift. I see per this post that I can go to a 285 but with some trimming. Can someone show me what I need to trim? I've already taken off the mud guards.

    Thanks!

    I don't know about 2wd... but on 4wd you can fit 295/70r18s (~34.4" tire) on stock rims with no lift.

    Clearance issues (if any) are fore and aft. There are many threads that show how it's done.

    That was 5 years ago... I think I remember the front splitter was the rub spot. It didn't last long. I put on Bilstein 6112/5160 within that week. Still have the same set going on 80,100 miles. Still dig the tires, probably go up to 35" when I put TRD Pro suspension on.

    Comparable size from a R18 -> R17 would be 285/70R17

    32.7/11.2R17 is the actual dimension which matches the 285/65R18 they have listed for no lift

    Forget the listings.... see what others have done.

    I had my current tires (which are as tall as a 35 and wider) mounted for a couple years with no lift, and I could never make them hit the upper fender or liner. So a 35 is fine with no lift. The other places you need to look at are fore and aft in the wheel well, and inside to the shock and swaybar. Contrary to popular belief, a shock lift (vs a bracket lift) won't even help with clearance there.

    To fit the biggest tire with the least/easiest mods, you want to just clear the shock and swaybar. This means you don't want the rim offset to stick out very much. Your Rockwarriors are narrow (8") and stick out only 10mm vs typical stock rims, so they are near-ideal for fitting larger tires.

    Forward clearance is easy... if necessary, you can move the liner forward and also space the bumper forward a little. It's easy to move the wheel forward on Tundras using the caster cams... if you are outside spec on the high side that is totally fine.

    I just looked up the options in a 17, and was surprised to find that 315/70r17 (nominally 34.4x12.4) will fit on a 8" rim. That's what I'd get. If you don't want to go that big, 285/75r17 or 305/70r17 are pretty common too.

    285/65/18 on a +25 18x9 wheel, would it fit on a stock suspension or would I need to look into a +35, or +40 wheel? Like to run a larger tire but also keep everything flush with the truck. No luck in finding some trail edition wheels to swap out my sr5 wheels.

    For what it is worth, I just mounted 285/65/18 on 18x8.5 wheel, ET 45 and it perfectly flush, with almost no poke out.

    Hey everyone, I ask for a little grace for the question I’m about to ask. I have a 2024 TRD Pro. I don’t have much faith with the stock tires. I want to go with a set of Toyo Open Country R/T Trails in LT 295/70/18. Does anyone have experience with this time on the new gen’s? Any rub? I appreciate the responses. I’ve attached a picture of my rig for reference.

    If you are going to put those tires on the stock rims, you'll be fine... based on the testimony of others.

    Definitely the aftermarket wheel offset. I have these exact same tires, same size on the stock TRD OR wheels and have zero issues with fitment. Full lock, flexing, they work great on the stock wheels.

    Yes, they will fit. You might need to trim, move, or manipulate plastic in the front or rear of the wheelwell. Higher offset will have better clearance. Stock is +60 and those wheels can take 295s.

    Looking at 34s (275/65/20) for a 2024 tundra SR5 but little unclear if these work for the 4x4 Sports on OE TRD wheels? No mods, to suspension. Any help greatly appreciated
