    Hi Guys,
    Longtime Lurker here :)

Parked in the garage yesterday morning, using the backup camera, and when I went back 8hrs later, and drove 10ft, then tried to backup (tiny parking garage requires alot of moves) the camera was blank.

Tried a number of things so far:
    1. Searched the forum, and found one post that had some ideas, but no solutions for me.
    2. Checked inside tailgate that camera is plugged in fully
    3. Checked under bumper that camera is plugged in fully.
    4. Disconnected battery overnight to reset everything, hoping it would come back.
    5. Followed the cable as far as I could to see if something broke it, but it's in good condition.

I'm getting a black screen most of the time. If it's not black, then it's white, with multi-colored almost vertical lines.

The truck is a 2014 crewmax, no electrical system mods, except battery is tapped for lights etc, but not using any relay triggers anywhere within the stock system.

Got any ideas of other things to try? I'm trailering alot next week, and my pampered self can't imagine backing up to the trailer without that little camera on.

    Thanks!

Its most likely the actual camera unit itself that is messed up. I had a similar thing happen to my dads 4runner, it would either blue screen or only work periodically. I ended up taking it apart and ordering the same camera part # vs ordering the entire housing.

Figured I'd update this incase someone else found it searching for a solution. This weekend I was driving the truck, and heard a loud noise, and the radio all of a sudden got louder.

I wondered if the camera was working again, so I pulled over and tested it. Sure enough, back to normal. I later dissasembled the dash, but nothing out of the ordinary in there, looked like everything was fully connected.

Who knows what it was, but glad its working again.
    Thanks

I was on my creeper looking under my 2020 and the camera wire was hanging down on my tailpipe just behind the rear axle. Might start there.

Mine stops working if the maintenance alert pops up on my screen. When I shut that off the camera works fine. Weird!

I just bought a 08 SR5 and camera dead. According to Toy Dealer here they have had about 30 of these and have yet to find the fix. I understand that it is a port installed option. I just knew that it was going to b something simple but no surprise it still doesn’t work. Any help appreciated. This is my Second Tundra and I also had an 08 Sequoia. No backup on either.

RCAs sometimes need to be disconnected, re-connected as they can lose their continuity. Probably what happened to your video RCA connection.
Edit: not sure if yours is factory and/or has this connection.

Does it have a usually yellow RCA plug at the video unit and or near the camera? Try unplugging and reconnecting.

My reverse video display on my 2015 Crewmax went black a week ago. With a multimeter, it was impossible to trace the wiring by probing the miniature connector pins. I bought an used OEM camera with harness off eBay. It turned out the camera was not the problem but the wiring between the camera and the first plug connector near the rear bumper was at fault. I am glad it was a cheap simple fix and didn't need to pay the dealership to troubleshoot for hours. Hope this helps for anyone who has the same problem.
