    BEST EXHAUST FOR THE TUNDRA::::

I’ve owned 3 different exhaust systems on my Tundras. I feel compelled to share my experience with everyone and what I feel to be the BEST exhaust for the Tundra.

    1st exhaust I owned: Flowmaster 817692 Cat-Back System 409S – Outlaw – Aggressive Sound

    Link:

    http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/e...drivetype=&category=Exhaust Systems / Kits&kw=

Review: This exhaust was SO much fun. It was the loudest of ANY I’ve heard by far. Almost as loud as a straight pipe set up but the tiny muffler tunes the sound just enough to give some more personality and make it sound good. This exhaust RIPS!! It makes the Tundra sound like a damn hot rod bat out hell. Seriously, people would get the F out of my way even when I wasn’t speeding. I LOVE hot rods so this exhaust made me happy. There were no perceived performance enhancements or gas millage improvements. The neighbors all have kids so they were not happy with me!! The drone was just to much over time. If you place some sound dampening material in the cab it would be fine.

2nd exhaust owned: Flowmaster 8525554, 50 series Heavy Duty muffler series in the 409 Stainless steel option 2.5” Dual in Dual out option.

    Link:

    http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/50-series-hd/

Review: This has got to be the BEST exhaust for the Tundra EVER!!! The sound was amazing and aggressive but didn’t make my ears go numb from the drone. The drone was minimal. But the best thing about this set up was the performance! I could feel the difference on the pedal during acceleration immediately!! It got rid of the acceleration lag I had experienced before. The truck accelerated even more effortless than before the muffler (crazy right?!) It kicks ass for towing as well. I looked at this muffler because it was designed for the Hemi 5.7 liter trucks. Our i-force engine is similar. I watched a youtube video where the guy talked about the feel at the pedal and was sold. SO GLAD I pulled the trigger on the muffler. I had a local shop install it with stainless tubing dual rear side exits. Here is the link to the youtube video that led me to the purchase. This is what I will be putting on my “new” 2013 Rock Warrior. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HrgH5g78zQ

3rd exhaust owned: aFe POWER 49-46008-B MACH Force-Xp 3" 409 Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System

    Link: http://afepower.com/afe-power-49-46008-b-mach-force-xp-3-409-stainless-steel-cat-back-exhaust-system

Review: I don’t know why the hell I decided to change up my system on my 2nd Tundra with this exhaust. It was expensive and sounded like Sh*t compared to the Flowmaster 50 HD. Seriously don’t waste your money on this crap. The pedal response was “mushy” at best. CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!!!

I hope this helps some of you! The exhaust choices are many and expensive! Flowmaster 50 HD rules them all! Good luck on your choices!

I'm personally running the TRD exhaust but @dirtydeeds actually runs tests on his exhausts for performance first and sound second.

It's all preference especially when it comes to sound. Lot of guys running his budget system and love it. I have his TRD replacement which is what I was running prior. I have a bunch of sound clips on my build page

And if you really want some BA sound and more power finish it off with some JBA LT headers!

Are those the JBA long tube headers? I want to install the long tube JBA headers with a true dual straight back exhaust.

Nice! I've heard the JBA long tube headers add over 30 hp. I'm planing on the long tube headers, full exhaust, supercharger & programer.

Did they take 4-6 hours to replace the headers?

I have the LT headers and BAmufflers. The trail tune on the BD tuner was written specifically for the JBA setup. It yields about 49 hp / 89 trq. The torque gains are the most important part and you def feel it!.

I just dyno'd my truck with the BD tuner installed and uninstalled to compare and its giving me 20 hp so about 30 hp from headers alone!

I did them myself and took me closer to 9 lol. Its not too difficult but its extremely tight in there, especially on the passenger side. Other issue is you cant see most of the header bolts so its mostly by feel which can be tricky. Also made a few trips to the local auto store. I'm sure a professional could do it in 6.

Sounds like a beast but pushing those kind of numbers out of the motor is asking for something to break. The Magnuson is plenty of performance for me. I also feel the Magnuson is more tested and trued for my liking. Definitely a cool setup to see though.

    Thanks for the mentions guys!!

Anyone interested, give a call for details. JBA developed the long tube headers on my truck. I let them borrow the truck for 2 weeks:) And the BullyDog trail tune was tested by me for a couple weeks before they finally released the tune for our race exhaust.

Without the resonator it's not bad. If you go up inclines or tow it'll get to you. I decided to put the resonator on when I went to Colorado from Chicago and I am glad I did. You lose some sound aggressiveness, but you gain refinement with the resonator.

With the resonator, drone is less than 3rd gens stock exhaust!!!
(Pretty much non-existent where stock has some drone...)

Quick question, you seem to be the go to exhaust guy! I see the shorty JBA's are street legal and the longtube are not... is this relavent if you don't live in CA? I live in NC. Last time I put headers on anything was a 2000 Chevy S10 4.3 that I was running nitrous on. Fun truck, but that was 17 years ago. Wasn't sure how tough inspections have gotten and if headers came up as an issue. Now married with kids, getting back into some fun mods again, but wife would kill me if truck wouldn't pass inspection ha.

Performance wise, are shorty's worth doing over stock manifolds, and if so, how close would they come to the longtube? Won't be supercharged till it's paid off, so 2-3 years away.

    Thanks for any thoughts!

Different counties and states have different rules regarding what will and what won't pass.

California is the only state that requires bribe money in order to approve a certain product for you to purchase. So you're probably fjbw as long as the check engine light stays off.

That said, if long tubes aren't an option keep the stock manifolds and run a good catback such as our 8" system.

    Call for details.

I work odd shifts and just dont have time to call you. I need a low deep growl with hopefully no drone at all. I can do headers too and prefer something bolt on that I can do at home. What do you recommend?

Our race system is a direct bolt on.

    Jba long tube headers
    Mid pipes
    Catback
    Tailpipes

Pricing varies by material used. And diameter of tubing. Also, we can include or exclude catalytic converters.

Nice reviews. Bought my cm used and it had an outlaw dual flowmaster I am pretty sure. Exactly as you described. Switched to the 70 series big block II muffler and its similar to the 50 you described..love it now. Still aggressive with throttle but no drone. Buy a few more and let us know how they are. Thanks.
