Please let me know if there is another thread on this - tried searching to no avail.

The families garage situation is such that the truck is going to be driveway parked out in the elements here in Georgia. Just wondering if there is anything, detailing or otherwise, that would be recommended to help protect it from those said elements (apart from regular washing/waxing).

    Thanks!

Ceramic or graphine coating will probably be your best bet.

It all depends on your comfort level as it pertains to detailing. Ceramic coatings are your best option, for protection and longevity. There are quite a few out there that are easy to apply. I just put Gyeon MOHS on my Tundra....my first legitimate coating. Very easy to apply....slick and glossy as well. Even easier to apply, and economical, is Gyeon Can Coat. I heard of folks getting the better part of a year out of it. You can stop short of a ceramic coating, and consider and SIO2-infused sealant, like Jescar Ultra Lock Plus. I've used it...super easy, very slick and glossy, and can give you around 6 months of protection. Another option is Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Wax.....economical, durable, easy to apply and locally available.

There are so many options out there....it's all about how far you want to take it.

@TucsonTundra1794 @briarpatch - Thank you both for your input. Will look into the products mentioned. We've used Griot's in the past with good results.

A few times a year, I use old fashioned yellow carnauba wax. Meguire's yellow carnauba gold class to be exact. Apply a liberal coat, wait for haze, sprinkle a heavy layer of cornstarch all over it and wipe off the excess with terry towels, then rinse it all off as starch powder will be all around. No buffing, no swirls, just a beautiful reflection that provides great finish protection for a reasonable price. Give yourself a couple of hours and two old bath towels to cut up. BTW wax prices have gone up a bit lately and I think the best price last go was at O'Reilly's.

303 Aerospace UV protectant wipes. Wipe headlights, plastic and rubber trim once in a while. If possible, park it with the headlights facing away from sun.

I keep all my vehicles outside, they rust less in New England this way.

Picked the truck up in Boston (flew into Logan) this past Friday. Even though there was no snow at the time, I still had to spray it down good when I got home to get all the salt gunk etc, off. :)

All of these are kept outdoors. I found adams graphene coating spray to work extremely well and it's very forgiving. Doesn't flash quickly so you have time to level it and easy to correct if you miss a spot.

Yeah, on a bad day in the beginning of winter (when local DPW teams are not yet mentally used to seeing any snow this season), my truck can have like 1/8" salt layer covering it in entirety. Cars driving highways get 1/4" or more of salt on the grill easily that day. Only old, pre-Ford era Volvos live in such climate more or less decently.

Just did my annual 2 coats of Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray Wax.
Holds up extremely well for Me.
I'm sure there's better products, but I can't argue for availability, cost, and ease of use.

^^^ What he said. ^^^ stolen cats are a major problem up here and much worse than a slightly dull finish.

Totally agree about protecting the headlights, plastic trim and rubber parts. The weather will certainly beat on those parts so it's more than caring for the paint. Especially the rubber trim around the rear window needs some extra care since the sun seems to favor that one! I've parked my truck outside for years and my biggest worry here in NC is the occurrence of a hail storm. If you have room on your property, you may want to consider one of those aluminum shelters to protect the roof of your truck!

Same concern down south of you. Our Camry has a few dings from a hail storm that hit when I was at work a few years back.
