How soon before new orders arrive at Canadian dealerships are Canadian buyers typically receiving their VIN?
Has anyone been able to determine their build date prior to delivery at a Canadian dealership?
    Thanks

Curious as well. My truck's ETA is second week of May, it wasn't built yet and my salesman doesn't know the build date. Am I supposed to receive VIN once it's built?

Have you received your VIN? What's your ETA? Sometime this month, right?

No VIN. Last we heard from the sales manager was a revised delivery date of April 10-18. No news since then. We’re expecting to receive news this week of another delay. We’re not in a hurry though because our new trailer isn’t ready either.

My ETA is May 6-16 and hasn’t changed for last 6-7 weeks but no VIN and no word about the build date.
Why do you think you should expect another delay?

@in_the_mud we always hope for the best but prepare for the worst. We went in expecting delays based on the experience of many forum members who ordered a 3rd gen. Plus, we’ve already had one delay. A second isn’t outside the realm of possibility. All that said, the way our deal came about is a little too good to be true so we’re also prepared to ask for our refundable deposit back and buy a used 2010-2016 RC long box in the interim.

Makes sense. With the ETA two weeks away you would think the truck is built already and VIN available.

    Oh, it's so frustrating.
Just got a word that the ETA of May 6 - 16 got pushed to June 3 - 13. I knew it would happen though.
What's even worse, last week I spoke with one of the managers from the dealership I put my original deposit back in May and was told that basically there's no chance I would get the truck before summer. They've had no updates at all since I put the deposit down and he said once they get the info about going it into production it's at least 3-4 more months.

Just heard that are new truck has arrived at Toyota’s Toronto depot and is forecast to arrive at our selling dealership in a few days.
Build date was April Fool’s Day.

My wait for my Tundra is almost over (deposit placed on 01 Oct 2021). My 2023 Tundra Hybrid CrewMax Limited L in Wind Chill Pearl has been built and it's "In Transit To Toronto Yard". The ETA to Winnipeg is 24-28 May 2023. In my case, it's approximately one month from build date to delivery date.

EDIT: I confirmed my production date was April 01, 2023. As such, it'll be 7-8 weeks from build date to delivery.

That's crazy. My ETA has just been pushed a month from May 6-16 to June 3-13 but the truck hasn't been built yet. For our American friends 4 weeks between a build date and delivery is absolutely best case scenario, without any disruptions during the process. I wonder if even the updated June ETA is realistic for me.
How did you learn about the truck being in transit? Did the dealer provided a VIN for you?

Oh, I'm aware of that. Mine still shows "scheduled for production". This is from two months ago but no changes to the status as of today, just ETA has changed.
So dealer gave you VIN just now and you learned through ryanwgregg that it was built few weeks ago?

Your summary document looks exactly like mine did a couple of weeks ago when the status of my truck was "Scheduled for Production". Now that my truck is "In Transit to Toronto Yard", the VIN is identified.

Yes, ryanwgregg confirmed for me today that the 'Production Date' was April 1, 2023. I'm not sure if 'Production Date' is the same as 'Build Date' or 'Completion Date' but it's the date identified in TIS for my truck.

Your Pipeline ETA & Inventory Summary document is dated Feb.25, 2023. I recommend you reach out to your dealer and have them print an updated summary for you. At a minimum, it'll show your updated ETA.

Yes, it is from two months ago but I am in contact with them on a weekly basis. That's how I know the ETA was pushed to June.
I guess we will see in coming weeks what happens.

@in_the_mud Just so you know, ours was built on April 1st. Our salesperson originally told us to expect the truck sometime in April. Actual estimated delivery dates became March 31-April 10 then April 8-18 then April 26-30. It arrived at Toyota Canada’s Toronto depot some day last week. We found it on the dealer’s back lot last Sunday. I think it had arrived late Friday or sometime on Saturday.
We placed our deposit on it on February 4, 2023. Note that this was a ‘dealer swap’ between two previously allocated trucks that were no longer spoken for.
Here’s hoping you hear something soon and don’t continue with the creeping delays.

I can’t recommend dealer swaps enough to anyone who needs or wants their new Tundra ASAP. We were dealing with at least a dozen dealerships during our search. The effort paid off.
