Don't get me wrong, but Nirvana wasn't really known for their amazing sound quality!

My hearing is shot, but I can tell that the rear door speakers in my SR DC are the kind you buy at radio shack to put in a clock radio from the 80s.
I have little 5" 250watt 4 Ω woofers that I got from a Fender portable PA and 2" tweeters. I'm considering building them into little cabs on the back wall and rerouting the rear door wires to 'em.
That, plus the okay front door speakers and the factory radio will be good enough for me.
When I really want to squeeze the music outta something, a quiet place and good headphones do the trick. The vehicle system just has to be loud enough to hear Thunderstruck with all the windows down at 60mph.

Good idea! Sorta like surround sound speakers on stands in your house.

Yep. I figure put 'em in the middle of the back wall (I removed the 60 section back seat) and have 'em fire right up the middle, between the front seats.

72D07DFE-9379-4CD9-B232-7BA85C79978A.jpg Installed Westin Max Mount Tray. (PITA) the driver side upper bracket took the most time. Didn’t line up exactly and there was radiator line in the way. Then trying to reach the nuts put them back on, very tedious. Installed temporary light mounts. It is a solid piece.

Ah. I was thinking to somehow put one on each rear pillar where the seat belt comes out. Maybe stage the speakers at 45° angles

Replaced shift knob. And, new old-school upgrade to my sound system.
    Before... 20230414_160153 (2).jpg 20230323_173550.jpg
During... (my first attempt at bending ABS)
20230423_101647 (2).jpg 20230423_105340 (2).jpg 20230423_114740 (2).jpg New center dash tweeter to match the tweets in my front door sail panels...
    20230414_173244 (2).jpg 20230414_142540 (2).jpg

    After...
    20230425_122456 (2).jpg 20230415_104423 (2).jpg
    20230425_122419.jpg 20230425_122343 (2).jpg
    20230415_104414 (3).jpg

Shortly after those pictures, I popped the Hertz emblem off the tweeter, turned it right-side up, and superglued it back on. 20 seconds later I went and got a paint pen and blacked it out.

Audio Frog GS25s left, right and center dash. Each paralleled with Hertz T24 tweeters.

I now have a fantastic stereo sound-stage across the dash (and beyond). No time-delays on any speakers, and every seat in the truck hears the singer's voice dead-center. From the driver's seat, sounds that once seemed to be coming out of the doors, at knee level, are now at ear level, and with a depth and breadth that seems to expand out onto the hood and across, beyond the outside mirrors.

Still brainstorming. Have to wait till the console stuff is done and see what room I have left. If I remember correctly, I think they need a cubic foot each of enclosure volume. If I can't fit them on the back wall and still be able to open the lid to the storage, then it's a no go.
Unless,....... I mount the woofers inside the storage bin and make the tweeters separate satellites on the back wall,...

I think this was meant to be a joke. They're not heavy on bass either.

I'd be listening to The Poet and the Pendulum by Nightwish, then Passenger by Deftones. Love the Rush mentions too.

I've red highlights throughout the cab. I liked this, but still wanted to blackout the chrome Toyota emblem... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097R633TD?th=1

So, I got this too... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WDGTW1H Stuck the red stickers on, and then dremeled the back of the blackout overlay until it fit over the red. It turned out nice, I think. No chrome shows. When the sun hits it, it glows almost like it was backlit.

Disconnect your battery before trying this, else you'll have neighbors coming out to see what's going on. :D

Do you have a cutout(s) on top of your grill? If so, you can reach down from above and pull the connector on each

Not enough, apparently...yet. This damn forum...
Finally disconnected the center dash speaker. Even the lady said it sounded much better with just that simple mod. A sub and amp, among other things, will likely be later in the year if I can get her to slow down on spendy vacay plans.

Stock sound is definitely too center focused, and bright, and with no way of attenuating. Since I upgraded the JBL/"Premium" system, I've been running for months without a center dash (DSR-1 doesn't do center channel, even though they claim that they do). Now that I've got my center dash back, I love it. I can attenuate as desired, and even turn it off with the twist of a knob.

Decided on the utilitarian look of some Envy A251318 steel wheels. They certainly didn't hurt the pocket at $475+tax CAD for a set of 5.

Of course, they weigh in a little heavier than alloys, but not too bad at 37.6 lbs a piece.
