Jerry Springer dies at 79

Jerry Springer has died at the age of 79, TMZ has reported.

Springer was best known as the host of the popular talk show The Jerry Springer Show for 27 years.

A spokesperson for the family said the TV personality was diagnosed with cancer a some months ago, and this week, his condition worsened. He passed away at his home near Chicago.

Before his career in TV, he worked as a politician and a failed campaign for U.S. Congress in 1970. He was elected to Cincinnati's City Council in 1971, becoming the city's mayor in 1977 and served one term.

He would later become a worldwide name with his self-titled show which first hit screens in 1991.

Those were great stories. I enjoyed that he purposely didn't want to meet any guests before hand. Let the circus unfold organically and just try to direct the show.

He was awesome, I was a kid in the 90s and learned a lot from that show about the world, I’d watch it daily after school with my grandpa. To this day I still have never married and I can contribute some of that reason to Jerry. Lol!

A former co worker was on one of Jerrys shows.

He says it was all staged but was fun as all get out. Dudes a midget. He had a copy of the video to prove it.
